I greatly appreciate your help, very much so. I also thank you for all your time and research. I’m having a really hard time understanding all of this and I apologize. I’m not sure what to do I just don’t understand. I’m sorry. I hate to ask again, but I think it’s the only way I can really understand what I have to do. Is there any way you could Video chat for a few minutes just to help me a bit more visually. Again I deeply apologize and appreciate what’s you’re doing.

also, I get 5v from p1 and p6

So my board powered by a 12v power supply actually as well as the pins on the t3 section that require power

Essentially what I’m confused about is where to put the wires and where the come from with the 5v you showed me earlier on the Mesa board

Each mesa stepgen has +5v and -5v for convenience.
As Clive said and as my video says, start with a multimeter. to confirm 5 volts.

5v is confirmed. Between pin 1 to pin 6 reads 5v

So the good news is you don't need to use it to set up step and direction.
Its handy to use if you need 5 volts.

Rod am I reading this wrong. Why don't you need 5V when setting up single ended step/dir

With a variant of the DM542, I just connected step+ and step- to pul+ and pul- and the same for dir.
Thats all I've ever done on any stepper driver.
I don't know what you mean by single ended. I assume it involves common signals. There is no place for it in the mesa ecosystem. Leave that to the Mach and grbl afficiondos.
