ok, well - I think I'll close this thread and thank you very much for your support.
Unfortunately, I still don't understand certain connections, even though I'm not only active here in the forum. I have to look elsewhere for my questions. thank you very much

Gentlemen,
there must be a problem somewhere with my minimal basic configuration for the 2 Mesa cards 7i92H an 7i76.
Is it possible that not all combinations and the latest firmware for these two cards are available for selection when configuring with the wizard?
Is the configuration page with P1 and P2 correct? Please see the Pics.
Is the selection of contacts shown on P1 and P2 correct?
Why do I only see P1 and P2 and not also TB1/2 of the 7i76 card and so on?
How must a connection be written in the HAL so that I can see and check the contacts?
Isn't it intended that the PncConf Wizard writes this at the end of the configuration?
Is the HAL/INI file responsible for the connection and communication between the two Mesa Cards?
If so, what must be in the HAL file so that the two cards can see each other and I can monitor the signals with LinuxCNC?
If everything is not correct, what is the mistake I am making?
Thanks again for your support
Claude

If you are talking about the "j3 bewegungsende im referenzstatus 7" error
That is not specifically hardware related but seems related to the homing
configuration.
Can you post your current hal/ini files?

I am not addressing the error "j3 end of movement in reference status 7", but it appears in any case (see image) and would have been my next specific question. Attached the actual HAL and INI File.
I am still trying to understand the context, as I have been since the beginning of this thread, by asking questions that are of interest to me, but I am not getting the answers that help me to understand. Therefore, I would like to provide the following information with questions that may give you some insight into why I am asking certain questions. Perhaps this will help us achieve our goal ;o)
Following the Files you have asked about.

I checked the electrical diagram, the wiring and the configuration with my colleague (he planned the wiring box) over the weekend and discussed it with Mesa and the Linux manual.
In a video we saw that with the 7i76 the 24V voltage on the TB1 must be applied to contacts 5 and 8 so that the 7i92 and the 7i76 become visible. Min 1:15
I had applied the 24V voltage to contacts 1 and 8 and have now switched to contacts 5 and 8. For me, however, nothing has changed visually. Perhaps this information is also very important for you?
Furthermore it is confusing that at the beginning of this thread on page 2
forum.linuxcnc.org/39-pncconf/52373-pncc...2h-and-7i76?start=10
on the P2 connector, but none on the P1 connector.
Yesterday we checked the ribbon cable from the 7i76 to the 7i92H, which is ok.
Since reinstalling the ribbon cable, we now see information on both connectors P2 and P1. (see printscreen)
Perhaps this information will also provide some clues?

In the meantime, a new initial situation has arisen with PncConf, which finally shows what I have been looking for for a long time.
The selection of configuration options now corresponds most closely to the hardware connected to the 7i76.
The selection options in the pull-down menus are neutral and must be assigned/selected.
Without knowing for sure, I now strongly suspect that I see the selection options because I put the 24V voltage on the TB1 connector from contacts 1 and 8 to contacts 5 and 8. Is that correct?

No, pncconf doesn't even need to have the card connected to create a configuration.
The appropriate TB tabs are displayed when you select the correct board,
7I76 firmware, press "Accept components Changes" and select the 7I76 I/O
tab

There do not appear to be any home/limit switches assigned
