Thanks for the reply, I managed to get it to work with just two hal commands, my spindle and driver have inputs and outputs for doing this without using the encoder through linuxcnc.

Hi all, I have some questions and would like to hear your opinion on retrofit. The retrofit is  on a older Deckel FP4A “another thread”.
Glass scale encoder vs just motor encoder??.     
Is it ok to just have the motor encoder for a system regarding backlash in the system ? ??
Leadshine EL8 or Delta drives with 2 encoder inputs ??Any out there running 2 encoders pr axis ? via EtherCat ?Have a nice day all.

Could be something with the smoothing tolerance even if it is tighter than the overall tolerance.
I use MergeCircles ON so it may not be so important.

I am unable to connect 7i95t on raspi4 with the below settings. Ping is not sending any data. Please suggest as what I am doing wrong!

I just ran it with smoothing off and it processed the hole as a centerpunch. So it seems smoothing should be OFF and MergeCircles also OFF. Would still be curious as to where the tolerance values should be set. Thanks for the help!

PCW, how do you solved that inputs can source and sink (depends on one comm pin voltage/ground) and also can source/sink 5-36V range? I am definitely not master electronic engineer like you, but need to solve a simmilar issue. Some schematic?

That's quite interesting, but also odd. I have the tolerance set to 0.0004 in, which may have just been the default.  If I raise this above 0.021 should it join the circle?  I also have smoothing checked, which may be another thing to try removing.
 
 

git clone puts the folder with the same name as the repository in the folder you run the command in. have a look in the file explorer
I tend to create a new folder ~/devel and put all my cloned repos in it. I used to use ~/dev under my home folder but it is easy to get mixed up with the system folder as you found out

Tou must be psychic! I just sent you an email! I havea Beckhoff EL5151 encoder on its way and hope to put a Mesa order together soon too so we can test both environments.
