Black Friday Deal got me :)

Category: Plasma & Laser

Something like 3 weekends later and the rotational parts move as they should. I got lucky with my material choices trying to keep things cheap. I ended up with about .005 to spare on the surfaces that mater and ended up with some mismatched surfaces just from the stock not being round. I got lucky this time. now if i can get it to seal in the right places and direct the air in the right places I'm in business :) the rest is downhill on this on this side. the other end is more complicated yet :)

Hi,
to my hal file: loadusr -W hal_manualtoolchangenet tool-change iocontrol.0.tool-change => hal_manualtoolchange.change net tool-changed iocontrol.0.tool-changed <= hal_manualtoolchange.changed net tool-number iocontrol.0.tool-prep-number => hal_manualtoolchange.number net tool-prepare-loopback iocontrol.0.tool-prepare => iocontrol.0.tool-prepared

I added this line: "loadusr linuxcncrsh -n --name localhost, -p , --port 5007" at the end of my hal file, and there didn't appear any error when I ran the CNC manually the Axis Gui. Everything works. But when i tried to run in this command "telnet localhost 5007", through the Terminal I got this error:Trying ::1...
Connection failed: Conexión rehusada
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]' I am using parallel port 0x378 What is missing or is wrong? Thanks a lot.

@Fabian,

Thanks for writing me. Mabye you could help us?

The frego paper i tried to read it tonight. It brings up several idea's how clothoids where solved in the past.
And then it bring's up a closed form solution.
However i just miss the knowlegde here to understand how it's done.

This paper i would bring under attention, it uses 4 clothoids to generate a clothoid spline fillet in 3d.
The mathematics are quite well documented. And the result pictures look very promising.

Adding a shield to the step cable has not changed anything.
I will scope the step signal in the next few days...
I tried it at least 8 times today at different speeds.... it was quite intriguing that the offset diameter increased when the speed was increased, but the offset angle always remained constant.

Anyone have any other recommendations on how to fix this?

ProbeBasic and sidemount, retractable 3D Probe

Category: QtPyVCP

nice.. have you considered simply adding the probing tool number parameter to the toolchange call with an if statement? this way anytime you load or unload the probe tool it would activate a subroutine to either deploy the probe or retract it?

I made it like this now, reading the tool number, converting to float, compare with wcomp.
3D_Probe_Extend is bound to an output pin on my mesa daughter card.

lcec configuration for exotic drive

Category: EtherCAT

Hello.

I have exotic servo drive from China, I tried to control it via cia402 hal, but it doesn't work, status word is always zero.
Then I tried to trigger the state machine manually via halcmd and halshow. The drive still doesn't work, it is in OP state, but the status word is always zero. I tried different configurations - but without success.

I also tried to control it via CodeSys control RTE (CiA402 ethercat) on my Windows laptop - everything works, the same settings, rxpdo, txpdo, dc.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

I attach my configuration and XML from the manufacturer:

File Attachment:

File Name: ethercat-conf.xml.txt
File Size:1 KB

File Attachment:

File Name: device.xml...2-10.txt
File Size:184 KB

I use debian bookworm with preempt-rt kernel and isolcpus. I tried to run servo drives from another manufacturer with same software - they work like a charm.

Thanks.

Pixeled screen on remote desktop

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hi all,

This is my fist post on the forum.

I have a CNC setup running on an old PC. I wanted to have a go at it and try to go to a rapsberry pi 4B to run it. much more compact etc.
I have ordered from byte2 bot a board to make the raspberry pi with an serial connection connecting to a CNC break out board.

I have installed this  LinuxCNC 2.9.4  Raspberry Pi 4 OS based on Debian Bookworm  Raspberry Pi 4 Uspace compatible with Mesa Ethernet and SPI interface boards.

I have also installed  xrdp and tight vncserver

When I connect from my home computer on windows 11 I am able to find the raspberry pi via my home network but when I log in I get a pixeled image. (see attachment.)

Is there something that has had the same issue and has an idea how to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance!

# Installer-Script (debian-bookworm only)

if you have a Debian-Bookworm installation (e.g. from the LinuxCNC ISO or the LinuxCNC raspberry image) you can simply use this script to install all depends and the icestorm and gowin toolchain (gowin only on Intel/AMD)

wget -O- www.multixmedia.org/riocore-installer.sh | bash

THC with Beckhoff EL5101 and THCAD2 => encoder signal loss

Category: Plasmac

I would check the signal at the EL5101, it sounds like an electrical issue.

Is the EL5101 setup and wired for the THCADs differential  signals?

(a THCAD cannot output a 0 frequency unless it has it's input polarity reversed or lacks proper 5V power)

Anyone figured out how to get Trinamic's TMC5160 drivers working with LinuxCNC?

Category: Driver Boards

From what I see in the Remora docs and source code, it only supports TMC2208/2209 with UART communication. As far as I know, the TMC5160 cannot be configured to use step/dir with UART configuration; it can only mix SPI and step/dir.

As for nozzle/hotend, all have V6 cold end with Volcano hot end, from 0.4 to 1mm nozzles. Nothing fancy but works properly.

There is one problem after the last changes.

The tool trace disappears after 30 minutes.

It looks like the tool trace is constantly being saved, even though the machine and simulation are not making any movement. I think it is constantly saving to some buffer which, when filled, deletes the oldest content.

The screen in vismach is refreshed every 100ms, if I decrease this value, the trace will disappear earlier than 30 minutes.

need help! mesa 7i95 connection problem

Category: Driver Boards

Hello,

sudo lspci -nn|grep -i ethernet delivers:

"Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation Ethernet Controller I225-V [8086:15f3] {rev 03}"

further trials did not result in much other than: again 1:45 am :-)

I tried another mini PC that I bought really cheap. Some difficulties to install from USB stick. I am not sure why it refused to install "uefi files" at first. (yet again I "fixed it" by random clicks on different options). The Ethernet adapter on this cheap Mini (it worked yesterday with the now deleted Windows 11) is a Motorcomm YT6801. This Ethernet adapter was not detected during installation. I tried to get it running using this instruction.
github.com/dante1613/Motorcomm-YT6801/bl...20-%20instruction.md
I have the feeling, that I messed the installation up quite a bit, not knowing what I am doing... :-).
The Motorcomm adaper showed (initial value for rx-usecs: 200), smallest value I could set with the ethtool (trying), was rx-usecs:3. The ping times seem to be influenced by that and went down from approx. below 0.5 ms to below 0.2 ms

Latency test in general I did not do these days.

Thank you for helping, so I am relieved that the 7i95 is still working.
