I am running into similar problem but maybe I found root cause. Need to do some more testing but please check below and share the result.

Can you please do the following:
  • M6 overwrite routine macro - On the tool change remove all the G43 command except one at the end after tool measurement., in my case it was m6 g43 on semi manual change
  • start linuxcnc
  • go to tool table and set in column Z =0 for probe and two random tools which you later test on example T1 and T2.
  • load probe m6 t99
  • go to object and measure it.
  • change to t1: m6 t1 with tool measurement
  • check if offset is correct if so try another tool t2
  • if T2 is ok now check other tools (one which has Z <>0 value in the tool table)
I have rack change for tools 1-5 and rest I am changing manually in the position. And I notice that the tools changed manually i was lading with M6 G43 in the tool_change macro. This causes error as I was changing G54 Z offset after loading tool. I need to make more test .

cheers
Michal

I assume that this procedure does not work when starting with a clean version of LMDE6? I tried on several systems, but I get long lists with missing python modules and the grub menu does not work.

Hi fully_defined,In reviewing your drawing, we have a few suggestions and clarifications:
  • For the HLFB output: As long as the circuit has sufficient voltage (24VDC will work) and current, HLFB can be daisy chained as shown in our photo below. You’ll need to configure each motor to use the HLFB mode “Servo On”. In this configuration, if any individual motor has its HLFB go low, the “fault input” at the controller would also go low.
  • For the Enable input: All of the motors can be enabled together as shown. Note that with this configuration, you won’t be able to individually enable or disable any of the axes.
  • For ground lines: As it’s not stated in the schematic, note that you’d want to run all of the ground lines back to the controller and connect them together at the controller (you wouldn’t connect the grounds together at the motors or elsewhere in the cable run).

I ran many tests on my N100 system with the latest official LinuxCNC distro (2.9.3), using the KDE Plasma desktop with Wayland, and these were the latency test results of the different Grub kernel parameter settings, while running two YouTube videos, 8 glxgears, and playing around with the system:

quiet isolcpus=0,1         max servo thread jitter= 46.7us
quiet isolcpus=2,3         max servo thread jitter= 14.6us   - Youtube playback interrupted
quiet isolcpus=1,2,3      max servo thread jitter= 11.3us   - Youtube playback severely interrupted
quiet isolcpus=3            max servo thread jitter= 24.5us

quiet irqaffinity=0 isolcpus=0,1         max servo thread jitter= 152.2us
quiet irqaffinity=0 isolcpus=2,3         max servo thread jitter= 17.5us   - Youtube playback somewhat interrupted
quiet irqaffinity=0 isolcpus=1,2,3      max servo thread jitter= 6.0us     - Youtube playback severely interrupted
quiet irqaffinity=0 isolcpus=3            max servo thread jitter= 13.7us

This last option gave me the best overall results. A responsive system and very decent latency. However, I noticed a few times a complete system freeze..... Oops..... It seems to me this is related to KDE and/or Wayland. I did some quick tests under XFCE, and the latency results really look quite different. I will do more extensive testing within the next few days with XFCE, and post the results here. I will also test with using the irqbalance daemon instead of using irqaffinity=0 parameter, which thus far gave me mixed but interesting results.

Hi MR.Aciera
Thank you, for fast reply .
maybe I will use a lot time for learn it to combine code  it's new for me (java right ?) but I will try first.

Thank you,

Hi everyone, total noob here. I'm experinenting the linuxcnc. I have an asrock j3355b board. I'm planning to use it with parallel port. I tried to install debian and linux cnc 2.9.2 but I cannot solve the kernel issue. When I install debian 12 it comes with kernel 6.x.x and all the RTAI kernel and other stuff is for kernel 5.4. as I understand that kernel and RTAI packages needs to be same. How do you install debian 12 RTAI, please help or direct me to correct direction.

Homemade CNC Plasma - hypertherm, Mesa, gear drives, nema 34.

Category: Show Your Stuff

So, after the success of my first plasma CNC, I thought it time to move her on to a new home, and build a new one. Bigger, faster, more powah!!!

Im starting with a MESA 7i96 with 2x THCAD10 for volts and ohmic sensing. Closed loop stepper motors will be Nema 34 running 60v. Reduction gearboxes onto helical gears. The z axis will bolt the hypertherm xp45 machine torch and an air scribe. I’ll use an air actuator to drive the scribe to the required height. Everything is running on aluminium extrusion and linear rails. I have prefer up a water bed that is 1500x3000. Giving me adequate space to load up a full sheet.

I’ll get some pics and links to the parts used as I go along.

lots of new things for me to learn with this build so no doubt I’ll be calling on the brains trust for guidance again and to help me when I get myself stuck.

cheers

Well, after 6 years, it’s time to say good bye to this baby. It’s about to leave and move to its new home.

Stay tuned to see my new build that I started last night.

Much the same, just a bit bigger, and faster, and more powerful.

Thanks for all the help and support. I’m probably going to need it for the next one as well.

Cheers

Skew correction/perpendicularity correction (millkins or millkins_xyz)

Category: Basic Configuration

You would need to add the 'skew-y' pin and the corrective terms to the forward and inverse kinematic models of the xyzac-trt kins.

need to add the 'skew-y' pin
This I understand.

corrective terms to the forward and inverse kinematic models of the xyzac-trt kins.
This is hard for me , not understand.
Now I open .hal of xyzbc and i add

loadrt skewkins
before line
loadrt xyzbc-trt-kins sparm=identityfirst

try to run linuxcnc and error  :
<commandline>:0: Pin 'motion.switchkins-type' does not exist
INI file HAL command net :kinstype-select <= motion.analog-out-03 => motion.switchkins-type failed.

Could you please guide me? I am ready to learn it

Thank you,
Asis

1. This makes no sense in your custom mcode as the file needs to be executable in the first place
chmod +x M101

2. comment out those 3 lines in your hal file, start your config and use the 'show halconfiguration' tool to check for the correct pin descriptor.

Good to hear, now I can focus on using the machine rather than figuring out a configuration I setup five or six years ago :)
