Time to revisit coolant mapping of M-codes in Linuxcnc

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Ok, so configure coolant m codes as follows

M7 p1 mist
M7 p2 derivative

M8 p1 flood
M8 p2 through tool
M8 P3  high pressure through tool

M9  p01 mist off
M9 p100 all off

As kind of a loose structure?

Thanks for the reply. If anyone knows where in the code base to look for this stuff it'd be nice to save me the time of having to dig through tons of folders and files

Thanks

Attached is an image of my U5 and U7. U7 has a blemish that cannot be scratched off, maybe a sign of damage? I looked at the onsemi datasheet for them, does one buffer control the step signals and one control the dir signals? Or is it like one controls all the positives and one controls all the negatives since one is inverting and one is noninverting?

Thank you unlogic.

I have a WiFi USB arriving today or tomorrow where I can connect the IPC to the internet and I’ll work on downloading and installing Debian.

Ah, you are quite right a about the 7I97T, I was looking at it earlier but got confused when I returned later.

I have a computer that can use the 5i25 but I will probably leave that for another stepper conversion.

This is also the case with my Joomla project, I have placed the files (all from the ZIP file) in my folder on the server, Joomla has done the rest.

My path is like this:  Joomla/media/system/images

Joomla then took over the new favorite images. (I had to clear my browser cache so that it was updated for me)

Slop and play in a mechanical system can never truly be eliminated. Here is where the law of diminishing returns starts to rear its ugly head. Pick all of the low hanging fruit, and hopefully the results will be good enough. From there it gets harder/more expensive to improve, and you will pay more for smaller and smaller increments of improvements. You may need to resort to scraping ways, improving ball screw mounts (the mounting bearings for screws are notorious sources of slop), higher precision ball screws (less worn).

(At some point you might be better off cutting your losses and getting a better condition machine, or just decide to live with what you've got.)

One thing I just noticed is if you pick Quick Reply you have the notify checkbox but if you pick Action > Reply that check box is not there.

Hi I am converting a Tree Journeyman 325 to LinuxCNC. The XYZ analog servo controllers all work so I need 5 encoder inputs: X, Y, Z, Spindle, MPG jog wheel. I have a 5I25 and 7i76 from a previous mill conversion but I don't think they will be useful.
Is a 7I95T a good match? I may want to use the 7I76 for additional IO.

Thanks

You might want to start a new thread if you have further questions, but here's a quick answer:

The 5i25 can work with a 7i77 (or 7i77D) DB25 daughterboard if you want to reuse it.  You'll need a computer with the appropriate slot, of course.

If you want an 'all-in-one' board then the 7i97T is the analog-output board you need, not the 7i95T.  The 7i95T is for step/direction output.

Either of the above options will have enough drive outputs and encoder inputs to work with your Tree.  Note that your MPG, while technically an encoder, does not require the same high-speed encoder input that a servo drive does.  The MPG can be connected to MPG-specific IO on the above boards (taking up two input pins), leaving you with two spare drive outputs and HS-encoder inputs.

I've not personally used Mesa analog-out boards, so please review your drive command signal requirements and verify the above boards outputs and encoder input signals will work with your drives and spindle control.

Age of the website and forum

@JT, ah I see, the forum and the website are on an "own" server not with a hosting company.
My website is at Strato.de, they offer me a ready-made, up-to-date server on which I can install my website (Joomla).
So it's not just about the website and the forum, but about the complete server itself.

Where is this server located? In a company? University, at someone's home?

I can just see how big it is. ...

@ Aciera. Yes, I have read that. Thank you.
