Need help in choosing controller board from small honby cnc.

Category: Driver Boards

One more question. Should I buy stlink adapter as seen in your ec500 video to flash EC500 or I can do this with USB to UART adaptor? How can I backup my original flash so that I can revert back of I need it. I have v5 version of EC500 with iMXrt 1052.

It would be great if you and terje collaborate in making grblhal working on this board. Its easily available and have plenty of io with MPG and Ethernet. One use as LinuxCNC or grblhal. I think this board is much better and cheaper than other options available. Also with 600mhz cpu.

im not really involved with the rt1052 project, i just do techsupport sometimes. I dont think it is optional, you need the stlink.

www.forum.linuxcnc.org/18-computer/44828...rd?start=1640#295702.

you can refer to this for flashing firmware etc,

CNC Mill Y+/Y- axis different step sizes

Category: CNC Machines

This is my first post here so please bear with me if I am lacking any standard info or procedure in this post.

I have a 3 axis mill running linux cnc and need help diagnosing the cause for the distance difference in movement in the Y positive and negative directions. I have compensated for backlash, adjusted the scale factor, tightened the pulley, and oiled the table's lead screw but am still getting about 0.101" for every 0.1" in one direction and 0.98' for every 0.1" in the other direction. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

unable to adjust servo spindle speed

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

What control hardware are you using?

Basically for a step/dir controlled spindle,
the step generator is set to velocity mode
and the velocity command is the requested
spindle speed and the step generator scale
is the steps per turn.

Can you post your current hal and ini files?

For the official ISO, editor should be mousepad, for Mint with Mate DE it should be xed, etc.

Scratch start plasma can not be used with CNC, it must have pilot arc.
Since LinuxCNC can be made to do pretty much anything, there is a chance it can be made to work with scratch start, probably a conponent that would raise the torch after probing and triggering the torch on.
Chances are that only raising the torch would often fail to strike an arc, so several tries would help till arc ok confirms cutting started.

Program progress bar - is there any default

Category: AXIS

Hi,
I am not at all aware how to customise AXIS interface so will appreciate help here.

I would like to install (add) some king of program progress bar or estimated time to finish information that would be available in AXIS.

Is there any "standard" "thing" I can install?
How do I get to it?

Cris.

[edit]
Seems you did not get the correct version as 'lathehandler.py' in version 3 does not contain that line. So maybe try again.

Check the entry for EDITOR in the [DISPLAY] section of your .ini file (eg EDITOR = gedit) and make sure that entry (eg gedit) actually opens a text editor when used in a terminal.
