Linuxcnc 2.4.5 with Ubuntu 10.04, Correct file path or structure ?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

To be Honest , I don't have the ability ,capability, or the time for a new configure. The system is password protected. I've tried to boot to a USB with the ISO on it . But the protection wont let me. So I cant do a fresh install.

You can also get a list of all enabled hardware pins with:

halcmd show all | grep hm2

When LinuxCNC is running.

I'm recalling a message where I stated that the problem was solved. It is not. I'm attaching the present state of the relevant .ini and .hal files.

Hi,

How are you?

How are you progressing with this, did you get it to install successfully?

Linuxcnc 2.4.5 with Ubuntu 10.04, Correct file path or structure ?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Flash memory starts to "forget" data after being unpowered for about a year (depends on temperature and stuff, IIRC).

Your files could be a bit corrupted.

Beware of using flash memory for long-term, unpowered storage.

Maybe just make a new config, TBH.

Consider a fresh install (possibly to a different HDD in case you want to preserve the files on that PC); though you don't need a clean install, it will fix the "HDD clutter" issue.

If your current hal file is like the older one, enable is
controlled by joint.N.amp-enable-out. This will be true anytime
LinuxCNC is in the run state.

From the older hal file:

net x-enable <= joint.1.amp-enable-out
net x-enable => hm2_7i76.0.stepgen.01.enable
net x-enable => hm2_7i76.0.7i76.0.0.output-01

Didn't you mention that you had DMM drives?

AFAICR, these are disabled when the enable input is powered.

A better question I should ask is what kind of response or voltage should I see on the ENA pin when the jog is made? It's looks to be 24V and not changing.

Thanks

i successfully updated to 2.9.4.  My pins are labeled as 7i76e now but i believe that is due to me picking 7i76 instead of 7i76e in pncconf.

However, I'm still not getting the motors to move.  It's changing the DRO and display in Axis.  I see voltage changes in Dir and Step pins but nothing changes.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Linuxcnc 2.4.5 with Ubuntu 10.04, Correct file path or structure ?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Can anyone direct me to the correct file path , or file structure within the system ? Machine will not move after a restart after , an .INI modification.Machine will run with another machines control. I have found a backup usb stick . But it has several files on it , Not sure what to delete and what to keep? I would like to reload the complete backup into the computer and try it. The hard drive is a cluttered mess , and I would like to clean it out. I will down load the files from the USB , if anyone can help! I will post some pictures also.

Try this
www.linuxcnc.org/iso/linuxcnc-2.7.14-wheezy.iso
You can boot from USB, and make a quick simple config and test with, all without installing it, then if it works better, install.

I just disabled a bunch of stuff in BIOS (another thread recommended) and latency is down to 15k, but all the same errors persist
