version 2.9.4 did not get the change, only master branch.
You will need to save over the camview_widget with the supplied version again.

IO Questions around mixing IO between Ethercat and Pi 5?

Category: EtherCAT

hey @rodw, was there something you wanted to add? looks like you just quoted my original post.... I know you have a lot of experience in this area, i have read more than a few of your posts so would love your input.

Thanks

Mesa 7i95t connection to Thermal Dynamics 60i

Category: Plasma & Laser

The pierce delay starts from the beginning of arcOK so the delay turning the torch on makes no difference.
The internal relay will need a minimum current of 100 mA and the Mesa board generally can't deliver this. You need to add a pull down resistor as discussed in the qtplasmac docs.

reference during rotorhoming

At the moment, rotorhoming starts when i power on the machine.
The problem is that i want to home the z-axis first.

QTPlasmac pierce delay handling

Category: Plasmac

Unfortunately the relay in the unit is damaged and does not close. I ran through the diagnostics in the service manual to come to that conclusion and of course the service manual recommendation is to replace the inverter board which is half the cost of a new unit lol. It's also very difficult to access but some point down the road I will pull it apart and replace the relay on the board if possible. I'm going to try Tommy's suggestions and hopefully that will buy some time until I fix it or sell it and get another unit.

the most likely cause of a "damaged" relay is oxidisation because the current through the relay has  been below the minimum operating spec. Installing a HS10 1 K pulldown resistor is likely to fix the issue after a few operations once the oxide is burnt off. This is covered in the qtplasmac docs.

Feature Request: ramp piercing (aka moving piercing)

Category: Plasmac

new features go into master branch (2.10) so this will never be in 2.9.4

Get a "reed contact" or "reed relay", make some 3 turns of the clamp wire around it.
That is it, cheap simple and never fails.
I am sure it was in the PlasmaC documentation, no idea if it is in QtPlasmaC.
See attached.

Sorry, I did see the previous post but it's from a year and a half ago. I guess I should have asked if it had been merged into 2.9.4 and/or master.

Changing the PWM scale changes the scaling of all PID parameters.
That is, a P term of 10 with a PWM scale of 10 is the same as a P term
of 1 with a PWM scale of 1, In both cases an error of 1 mm generates a
full scale (+ or - 10V)

There is no reason on a torque mode drive to change the default
PWM scale of 10 (a scale of 10 means the PID output is scale in volts)

QtPlasmaC using w axis

Category: Plasmac

I need help. I tried converting the a-axis to w, making it leaner. However, I keep getting errors like dro_a and torch_a. Is there an easy way to add a w-axis as z2 ? I made it by editing the handler file and ui file  to overcome these errors; however, I can get it to show the z2,  i looked at the QtVCP library there is z2 there

Lathe Macros

@andypugh I am updating probe basic lathe conversational section which someone was awesome enough to give me a head start on and it is using your macros and artwork, but looks a bit behind your latest versions. i saw some links to fusion artwork but tells me i am unauthorized when i click the link on the fusion page. are the fusion files available elsewhere? or do i need to be added to the group/project to have access?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

ESP32/S2/S3 LinuxCNC Controller (6 axis hardware step gen), USB plug-and-play

Category: Computers and Hardware

Attached is the working stuff, full set, but it is not the last i did modify as apparently i forgot to save that on the NAS, hopefully i have not deleted them but in general i have changed the IP address to 10.10.10.10 so i do not have to change network settings when using Mesa boards and some minor tuning.

i think i'll keep the potentiometers, because i've never coded a homing with an encoder so this will allow me to improve, and if i never manage to, it's easy to dismantle so i could insert home switches.

Nice. :)
I will try to get my mother to have a look at the pictures, she still uses those machines daily despite being 75 years old.
