I just tried viacomstructor.
It seems to generate Gcode that can run on a qtplasmac sim configuration.

However it looks like it does not generate lead ins that I selected under leads. Is there something I do wrong?

OK, so the machine is usable, right?
Personally i never use ohmic sensing and i have removed quite a few of existing ones from old industrial machines as they were very flaky and more trouble than worth, but Rod has made some good work on making it very usable, so i might just give it a try ... when i get a torch with a shield.
Sorry i can not help more with it.

Yes it has a float switch.
ideally the float switch is only there as a backup if it doesn't sense the material.  I.e. due to rust or oil.

What do you really get for a $350 desk top engraver ?

i'm wondering if Stepper-online and Leadshine are tied together somehow? the software is just about identical? anyways Leadshine  has a quick start guide for the programming software that is much more helpful than what Stepper-online has which is nothing basically. I just found the quick start guide so looks like i need to spend some time searching through that for clues. i managed to read a drive and got that part sorted out so that's a little bit of progress :)

Thank you!
This helped me a lot, I now have consistent probe result. Thanks to debouncing there is no more "Probe tripped during non-probe move".
Let´s make some chips! :-)

Figuring out the pins for unknown VFD to hook to 7i96s

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hi, I am trying to hook up a VFD to my 7i96s.  I have a picture of the pinout for the VFD but I am having trouble determining which pins need to attach to the 7i96s and where they should be plugged in.

Tool Table Understanding

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Hi Guys, you helped me find an error in LinuxCNC and gave me the fix. So here I go again.

In the tool table what does the Z setting actually do? I have a workable setup but in the table I have set the Z to .5", and then if I home to the top of the work and then touch off .5" above this it seems to work. Am I on the right track here? So if I set the table Z to 0 then I could touch off on the work?

When I ran this a number of years ago I was in the habit (I think) of touching off Z on the work and then if would make some clearance above the part and ready to run.

Thanks!

I'm not positive but I don't think G7/G8 extends to jogging, so that would be the normal behavior I guess.

Notes from installation of ethercat on Raspberry Pi 4

Category: EtherCAT

With this image I was finally able to get ethercat working, with the image for Pi4 that is on the LINUXCNC page it was never possible.

It looks like the release manager has not released the  2.9.3 Image I gave them. Try this one

I've done some tests with machining programs in diameter mode and it takes it well. but I'm still jogging in radius, is that normal?
