1. Forget the '_cmds.hal' file from the sim config.

[edit]
You seem to have had a working basic config here:
forum.linuxcnc.org/39-pncconf/52567-how-...r-6-dof-robot#299822

So I'm confused as to where you are in your process. Did you have a working setup with trivkins kinematics and now you have these problems after switching to genserkins?

Debian Desktop issue

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

im batting 1000 this week.

the desktop screen is caddywhompus all of a sudden. pc sat idle awhile, appeared to not be responsive, i mashed keyboard buttons, and after a power cycle, the desktop has an invisible mouse cursor and this is how it looks.
i was able to get into the menu area, if i go into background settings and apply to all workstations i think it was, i get the debian background and desktop icons but no menu.

all subroutines are running and homing without index under 2.9.3 also.
so oiling, toolchange and column control is done:

So now all what's left is home with index and some cleaning in the gui

At the moment I think you would need to make a VCP panel using qtvcp and embed it into gmoccapy. That would give you access to Qtvcp's messaging functions.

It could probably be done using gmoccapy's USER_COMMAND_FILE options but I have never trued that.

Notes from installation of ethercat on Raspberry Pi 4

Category: EtherCAT

I used the version that the video proposed. I downloaded the image that he suggested. I should download the version linuxcnc.org/2024/07/12/LinuxCNC-2.9.3/ from what I understood the version of linux cnc that is in the image would already come pre-configured and from what I understand now it is a clean version of linux cnc?

Add Tab to Axis View Pane

Just to confirm it works, try the sim config: axis/qtvcp/qtvismach_tab

you should get axis with a sample vismach in the tab.

Convert LinuxCNC Sim to Real Machine

Eventually I want the machine with the robot gui sim panel running.  But for now I'm just focusing on the physical machine itself.  Is the moveo_hal all required for the machine or is it a combination of machine and sim pins and I need to sort those out?

The one issue I have with the machine is I can jog all the joint axis.  When I switch to Cartesian only every other DOF works (X,Y,Z,w,p,r).  For example Y, w,r work, and X,Z,p do not.

I'm not yet loading the moveo_hal.  If I do I get something like already in use kid of errors.  So I'm asking myself what in that file is needed that wasn't included in the main.hal (MesaCT) build.

File Attachment:

File Name: moveo_cmds.hal
File Size:30 KB

File Attachment:

File Name: main_2024-09-07.hal

File Name: moveo_rev1.ini

Thanks.
I just used conversational in qtplasmac.
I tried to increase cutting speed.
But it always cuts the same slow speed.

I downloaded sheetcam unfortunately it already asks for a
License key.

Is there any free software to generate G code for plasma?

I have actually seen this issue with LinuxCNC, but it may only have to do
with displayed numbers. I think many displayed floats are single precision.

Home / Soft Limits - Not homing before moving axis(s)

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

the home offset for x,y is because thats where the vise is. its not zero, its within the coordinate system limits. it homes to 0,0,0, then offsets within the coordinate system where i tell it to. does that make sense?

If you just need GPIO all 17 P1 I/O pins are available as GPIO
with the default firmware.

The GPIO numbers vs P1 pins are listed in the .pin file:

IO Connections for P1 -> 7I97_2
Pin#                          I/O   Pri. func    Sec. func        Chan     Sec. Pin func   Sec. Pin Dir

P1-01/DB25-01          34   IOPort       None
P1-02/DB25-14          35   IOPort       None
P1-03/DB25-02          36   IOPort       None
P1-04/DB25-15          37   IOPort       None
P1-05/DB25-03          38   IOPort       None
P1-06/DB25-16          39   IOPort       None
P1-07/DB25-04          40   IOPort       None
P1-08/DB25-17          41   IOPort       None
P1-09/DB25-05          42   IOPort       None
P1-11/DB25-06          43   IOPort       None
P1-13/DB25-07          44   IOPort       None
P1-15/DB25-08          45   IOPort       None
P1-17/DB25-09          46   IOPort       None
P1-19/DB25-10          47   IOPort       None
P1-21/DB25-11          48   IOPort       None
P1-23/DB25-12          49   IOPort       None
P1-25/DB25-13          50   IOPort       None

Each GPIO pin (GPIO 50 = DB25-13 shown here)
Will have three hal pins available for connections
in your hal file:

hm2_7i97.0.gpio.050.in
hm2_7i97.0.gpio.050.in_not
hm2_7i97.0.gpio.050.out

and three parameters that need to be set
appropriately if the GPIO pin is an outrput

hm2_7i97.0.gpio.050.is_output
hm2_7i97.0.gpio.050.invert_output
hm2_7i97.0.gpio.050.is_opendrain

All GPIO pins startup as inputs so the "is_output"
parameter must be set "true" for any GPIO pin you wish
to use as an output

Home / Soft Limits - Not homing before moving axis(s)

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

the limit switches are set to home+limit currently. machine homes to the switches, then brings each axis in a little; .125" for Z, and about half way for x & y.

OK for Z, wrong for XY, why would you have machine 0 at the middle of the table???
Always (almost) the machine 0 is at near left side.
