Mesa 7I96 + Stepper online CL86T Wiring connections

Category: Driver Boards

 Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask a favour of some more experienced users than myself.
I am making the electronics with the 7I96 and the CL86T drives, the connections for the motor management I managed to connect.
Now I am missing the limit switches e-stop and Z-Finder, could you kindly check on the attached diagram if the connections are correct?
Thanks
Milko

Why does it seem like everyone here is Australian?

Category: Off Topic and Test Posts

I am not in Australia.
I do like Australia, with all the creatures that can kill people easily, mostly because of people.

Why does it seem like everyone here is Australian?

Category: Off Topic and Test Posts

It seems all permanent, long-standing members, contributors, moderators, etc. are Australian.

Why is this?

Why would a place with a hot climate have lots of people who work with heat-producing machinery in a room that likely has no A/C?

Machines likely need cooling water (fresh, not salty), a rarish thing in Australia.

I suppose close proximity to Asia is nice, but is kinda counterracted by the fact that it's far away from the USA (though Trump is successfully making proximity to the US less desirable).

Nice work on the update to probe_basic.  The status tab is perfect!  I see this is an older post, but maybe you can share the update or some notes on how you made it.  I want to create something very similar.  Newbie here and not sure where to start.

None of the axis are moving - using mesa 7i92t with 7i76u

Category: Basic Configuration

Hi All
Yes, the W4 jumper on the 7i92t was down, and it is now up.
The linuxcnc config loads,  the inputs also work , and there is also movement on the motors :)
A very very big thank you, to the knowledgeable folks on this forum, for sharing your valuable time, wisdom, and knowledge with me, it is greatly appreciated.
As a person new to Linuxcnc , there are so many things that we don't know.
Be braver than me, post a question sooner than I did.
(For folks reading this post in the future, the wiring currently is differential, and seems to be working fine).

Thanks for reply,
I have set 12800 and testing some gcode only with Y working.
I don't want to cause problems when all the stepper and spindle are physically working.

Question on Servo analog output scaling

Category: Advanced Configuration

Yes, unless you set the analog scale so that it equals
the velocity in machine units per second at 10V, (and FF1 ==1.000),
You will need to tune FF1 using halscope.

Here is a long thread about this tuning:

Today I managed to modify the hex file as proposed above by removing the EOF lines are sorting the sections. This way I succeeded flashing and all buttons of the matrix keyboard are now finally working. Thanks Peter for the firmware.
I really wonder why all the tools, I also tried more modern versions of the MPLAB X IDE, are not able to properly read the original hex format.

Best practice for installing custom Python packages in LinuxCNC?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Why not just build a deb and install your package?
github.com/jethornton/simple-deb
github.com/jethornton/simple-pyqt5-deb

Or if you're using Flex GUI you can just add it to your ini and it gets imported.
