"Coherent replies" this was the word i was looking for when making the first post. :)
Oh well...
-

Not sure what prompted the post but gonna jump in and lend another thanks as well for your help (last year?) with that plasma cutting....

It was prompted by his continued support to members of this forum, coherent replies (YAYYYY), and the time and effort he puts on this forum with help and posting about his projects.
There are many members here who absolutely deserve respect for everything they do for this community and this project, but i refrain from listing them as i am sure i might forget someone, and that would be unforgivable.
As for the "old" members, They deserve a "Mount Rushmore" type of monument for first and foremost being amazing humans, putting up with all kinds of cr@p we do here, pointing out our mistakes in a very nice and polite way, never getting tired of our silly questions and even sillier follow ups to their replies, and providing us with a world of knowledge that we sometimes take for granted - we should not!
I came here for the code as i absolutely fell in love with HAL the first time i opened a hal file, but i sure as hell stayed because of the people, namely PCW, Andy, Todd, Chris Morley, JT, Mozes, Chris Radek (i think), and later Grotius, RodW, CliveS, PhilC, SnowGoer, TheFabricator, my1987toyota, Joco, and lately Aciera, Spumco, Maha, CakeSlob, ScotA, . Who did i forget? :)
I have also talked on the phone with some of them, several times, Clive came here to visit me, so i do consider them close personal friends, and this single-handedly has kept me from going ballistics on many occasions, as i might have mentioned before, i was a very aggressive piece of s#it a few years back.
And it has taught me to write as the only thing i wrote before this was "po", "jo", "OK" ! Meaning yes, no and OK :)
Sorry to whoever i forgot, it is almost 5AM here...
Also thank you to all the rest i did not mention here (yes that includes you Blazini) for making this forum a very nice place to be in.

Jog not working on new install

Category: Plasmac

I am using QtPlasmac on a new install.
Am using a card called the weenyPRU as seen here github.com/iforce2d/weenyPRU/tree/main

I started by using gmoccapy (as I am familiar with it) and then realised that the PlasmaC was deprecated in 2.9.
In gmoccapy I got homing and jogging working, so stopped there

HI then ran stepconf and created a qtPlasmac config and removed the parport/stepgen and merged what I think is correct for qtplasmac

I can currently home the machine, but when I jog it no stepping occurs. The screen update works ok for the axis position in both the graphical view and the axis position view.

Obviously missing some net connections but cannot see what.

Version is 2.9.1

Remap argspec in stdglue.py

Category: Advanced Configuration

After changing assignment of P Q and R to different parameter(value range), and changing argspec to captal letters, it seems to work now and stdglue.py is reverted to original.

It is about a new cycle, using a small ballhead mill, following a conical spiral to do countersink with good surface quality

I have made a mistake. I thought the kit I bought gave no *physical^ access to the SD card. But, it does.
My apologies for the trouble and misunderstanding.

Arduino IO Expansion

So an interesting thing happened last night......

I was watching something on Youtube and someone mentioned ChatGPT, which reminded me how I joke with a friend that his code sometimes looks like ChatGPT wrote it.

So then It dawned on me that I should peg ChatGPT about adding the I2C IO to Arduino Connector. I'd never used ChatGPT before but I figured why not......

A couple hours later I have  the MCP23017s all working as inputs/outputs within Arduino Connector......

I was pretty blown away by how that turned out.

I'm so hopeless when it comes to the backstage programming stuff I figure I'd better help out where I can.

hmm i never realized thats what it meant, adjust the file dialog box.

I dont know how, but I want to know how. to resize buttons and everything else. or, even replace it with a different file dialog

I found the lib file that it uses
github.com/tcltk/tk/blob/main/library/tkfbox.tcl

github.com/tcltk/tk/blob/main/library/tkfbox.tcl#L446
here is the button
set data(okBtn)     [::tk::AmpWidget ttk::button $f2.ok \
	    -text [mc "&OK"]     -default active];# -pady 2p]
    bind $data(okBtn) <Destroy> [list ::tk::dialog::file::Destroyed $w]
    set data(cancelBtn) [::tk::AmpWidget ttk::button $f2.cancel \
	    -text [mc "&Cancel"] -default normal];# -pady 2p]

but now I dont know how to configure it in the bigfile.tcl

Here's an example working pinout file with a PktUART

File Attachment:

File Name: pktexample.zip
File Size:3 KB

You should be able to cut/paste into your actual pinout file

You need both the:

        PktUARTTTag
        PktUARTRTag

Note that the

PktUTDrvEnPin is active low, if you need active high, use PktUTNDrvEnPin

        IOPortTag & x"00" & PktUARTRTag & PktURDataPin,      -- I/O 30   RX PKTUART PIN
        IOPortTag & x"00" & PktUARTTTag & PktUTDataPin,      -- I/O 31   TX PKTUART PIN
        IOPortTag & x"00" & PktUARTTTag & PktUTDrvEnPin,    -- I/O 32   TX PKTUART PIN
