At this point I am starting to hoard software programs as well. Who knows how long before "They" decide
to start blocking open source stuff .

Very good idea, especially since i have nearly 5TB of free space on my NAS.

What do you think about the PeeliCeeli N150 and what would be recommendable RAM and SDD size? 16gb RAM and 512 SDD sounds like plenti to me.

Looking at the code of lut5 there really isn't much to it to go wrong.

So, given that probing the input pins shows the correct values, and probing the output pin shows an unchanging false output, I have to wonder if the function is just not being called for some reason.

What actually triggers the lut5 function to execute and generate a new output? Is it simply a change on the inputs, or is it perhaps thread related?

Do you mean they use the near component with the actual spindle speed?

I don't have a value for that, the VFD just gives a true/false output when it is enabled and its frequency matches the requested value.

Compleatly off line Voron image possible ?

Category: Additive Manufacturing

For the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk and coordinated maneuvering by world governments
and private companies to compartmentalize sensor/block  web sites. I do worry how long before sites like
Linux, Voron, LinuxCNC, Github, and the like get blocked. ( Won't somebody Please think of the children )
The reason this is relevant is because of how many software providers distribute there software via
downloads from the Web instead of  from physical media. Even Raspberry Pi pretty much encourages
everyone to use the online Pi imager tool.

So my question is, Has anyone made a full image for Voron  2.4 with- Klipper, Mainsail, Moonraker,
KlipperScreen and so on?

I know at least Linux sells physical media for most of the main distros so at least there's that.

A lot of what's been going on wreaks of Prohibition 2.0. It also shows that since big companies can't
seem to offer anything of value anymore so they are pivoting to pay extorsion schemes. Sure you can
buy the physical device but you must pay a monthly fee for it to operate. Or pay even more and they
will add something extra. Oh and it also has to be connected to the internet at all times  to make sure
it is being used properly. You know for Safety and Security reasons.

I know this has been a bit of a rant. That said stock up / Back up as much software as you can. It's
going to get worse out there.

There are some nice N150 industrial PC's now with wifi and 4 NIC's that should do the job. Some also have screw terminal RS485 ports too! Insist on Intel NIC's though!

Don't worry about sticking to 35 volts per the sticker. That's irrellevant. A good stepper will take up 90 volts so 60-72 volts would be perfect for that motor. You can see that it can handle change in temperature of 90 deg C from a max 40 deg C Ambient temperature. I usually work on 35 deg Ambient. So it is safe to operate up to 130 deg C which says its a quality motor. People needlessly worry that their motors get hot! Hot will sizzle flesh!

Also what's not understood that for given design parameters, the motor may not need the maximum amperage it is rated for. I analyse stepper performance via some engineering design tools. For example a Sanyo danki 2 amp motor, I am evaluating requires:
1.0 amps RMS, 38 volt power, and just 4 degrees C heat increase. I have run these motors at around 90 volts using 64 volt AC LAM DS1073.

Note the 4.2 amp DM542A from Longs Motor is different (superior) to the DM542. 4.2 amps @ 48 volts would probably be all you need.

And as Tommy says, Lams are the best drivers out there. Here is some high speed action I filmed a while ago. 2amp Sanyo Denki on the X axis accellerating at 0.5 G (5 m/s/s) I did run them at 0.8 G  when testing.

Trouble is if you are in the US, they are not readily available unless you buy from Tommy's source.

pc for linuxcnc using ethercad and Mesa

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hi everyone,I’m planning to rebuild one of my CNC mills and would like to use a Mesa 7I76E for axis and I/O, together with a Lichuan LC10E20E EtherCAT servo drive for the spindle.Has anyone here set up a similar configuration and can share their experience with this servo drive? One drawback of this setup is that I’ll need a PC with either three Ethernet ports or two plus Wi-Fi. I’d prefer a fully wired connection (to avoid potential noise issues), I’m looking for recommendations.Do you have suggestions for suitable hardware that would work well with this setup?Greetings from Germany

In Linux line endings are LF
In Windows line endings are CR,LF so won't work.
Notepad++ can be configured to write text files with Linux line endings.
We provide Geany text editor on the Linuxcnc ISO file which is very similar to Notepad++

Axis gui no tool table or program editor.

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I dont mind Geany. the problem is it wont open up my tool table from the axis screen.

It will if you set the editor setting in the ini file. Lets you use whatever editor you want. The advantage with Geany is that its very familiar for Windows users who use notepad++
