Hi Norbert
If at all possible, could you provide a HAL pin for every custom box to hide or show the box please? This will be very handy for use with remap functions that only require the panel to be shown at certain times. One can now add several custtom panels without having the screen cluttered or destroyed by to much info on the screen at one time.

Thanks a lot man :P

Regards
Marius

Hallo Marius,

You can do that youself, using a py file for your panel. Just create your own hal pin, like we are doing in plasma.py and write a handler to react to the changes of the pin.

Please try that and keep me informed, as I like your idear.

(Without testing:-)

What editor do you use for writing the python programs in?

I just installed PyCharm IDE as it has code completion functionality. For my level of python knowledge it is required. Do you think that is the way to go?

Halo Marius,

I do use Aptana Studio 3, as I like it most of all the stuff I tried. It has code compltation as well as code checking.

And best, also a Debugger is included.
May be I can post later my settings, as the standard is not the best in my opinion.

I will also post a skeleton to beginn with if you want to add your own handlers.

I just installed PyCharm IDE as it has code completion functionality.

I use Eclipse for C and Python (often both at the same time) when working on LinuxCNC.
(And, just to complicate matters, I work at a Mac, which also hosts the git repositories, which are remote-mounted by the target systems)

Eclypse is a very powerfull IDE, but in my opinion to heavy to use it with pure python. And you have to install aditional parts to get python suport. Aptana is the small Eclypse with pydev (python support) on board.

I tested both and find Aptana to fit best my needs, but it is like most thinks in the world, there are several ways to reach your goal and each way has its own advantages.
