I think there is a linuxcnc dev package with all the dev tools if you are not compiling from source. Also if not compiled form source (RIP) I think you have to use sudo.
I have always compiled RIP.

I got it compiled and installed.
Just had to isntall the uspace-dev's

Since Mesanet doesn't have any thcad-5's in stock, would a thcad-10 work as well? I'ved ordered one of these, and if I need to modify it for a -5 I'll order the parts needed. But if it works as is, it's a much simpler solution.

Just follow the formula in the mesa manual and chose a scaling resistor that gives a full scale of 24. 5 volts. From memory for the THCAD-10 145k to 147 k depending on resistor series.
