you need to work in the postgui hal file because the pins are created in the gui

sure Rod! i put everything in postgui.hal, also the encoder for the height works, only the last 4 lines don't work and i had to comment them. if i look in hal show there are many external pins but not all.

What is your version of QtPlasmac?
Are you getting any error messages in a terminal when starting LinuxCNC?

Wait for Phil, but i think its because its loading Python2. Pretty sure QTP needs Python 3
MX Linux or Debian 11.
For Debian 11 www.qtpyvcp.com/install/bullseye.html
For MX Linux, Snowy has a tutorial on the forum here.

thanks Rod, in fact I have a hardisk with mx and it has all the pins I need. however he has wifi locked and i can't unlock it ... he tells me unlocked but in reality it is always locked. i have too many problems with the network in my nuc i3. with both mx and debian systems I have to turn off the power to the 7i80 board and turn it back on to make it work, long ago it went correctly without having to turn off anything.

Wifi's a bit funny to get going. I had 2 wifi dongles here and eventually I got one going but signal was too weak. Then pulled out the other one and found a repo on git hub. Once you can identify your chipset, google is your friend.
Same with your NIC too.
