Hi Cmorley
I've tested it some more, and I don't need to touch "def external_offset_state_changed(self, data):"; it works fine without any changes. I don't know why I had the problem before, but the stop button is still a problem.
To stop the spindle, I have to press stop a second time.

Can you make the spindle stop fail in a sim config?

Yes. You can observe this in the default configuration, e.g., sim.qtdragon.qtdragon_xyz45/qtdragon_xyza.ini.
I've checked it several different ways, both in a virtual machine and in a real one.
You press stop, the machine stops, but to turn off the spindle, you have to press stop again.
auto mode switching = True works fine.
If you want, add it to the GUI.

Can you give details on the procedure you are using to test the sim?
I can't see this behavior on my system but maybe I am doing it wrong.
Thanks

If no one else is having this problem, then it's clearly just me. There's no point in pursuing this further.
That's strange, though, because I downloaded the entire program from Git, compiled it, and the same problem persists. Older master builds don't have this problem.
With a freshly compiled program, I open one of the default qtdragon configurations, open some gcode, run it, press stop, and the program stops, but the spindle doesn't turn off. I have to press stop again to turn the spindle off.

Just did a test on 2.10 sim that was probably compiled a year ago, besides not letting me run any gcode complaining ... ne, SCREAMING at me "abort something or another 3" , but it did turn the spindle on once and did require stop twice to turn off.

P.S.
No idea who thought adding sound/voice to cnc machine controller was smart, although it would be hilarious if it did scream some profanities when making mistakes, but since i always have music playing in the shops (loudly), it might give a heart attack to anyone else in the shop.
