OK, so it is a package installation.

do you update by going to a terminal and entering:
sudo apt update
sudo apt dist-upgrade

Yes I had done that and it took a while to upgrade and completed.

It may be worthwhile going to the following page and follow the procedure shown, it should get you to V0.191

buildbot.linuxcnc.org/

Assuming you are using Debian Buster or equivalent, use these stanzas:
deb http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ buster master-rtpreempt
deb-src http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ buster master-rtpreempt

Gave me this when entering
Sudo apt update
All packages are up to date
Failed to fetch deb.Debian.org/debian/dists/buster/inrelease
Some index files failed to download they have been ignored or old ones used instead

  • Getting the archive signing key
  • Adding the buildbot packages
  • Installing LinuxCNC

    • You should end up with something like this in Synaptic Package Manager:
