Sorry yes, thats what I just tried to run and thats where the debug came from..

Ah ok, I get it, you got the permission denied error with the sim config.
That is a bit odd as usually permissions should remain if you import and unzip on your linux machine. But anyway try right clicking on the file 'xyzab-srt-gui.py' -> Properties -> choose Permissions tab and activate 'allow executing file as program'
Then try launching again and report.

First thing to try would be to delete the folders 'demos', 'psng', 'python', and 'remap-subs' from the non working hackbot config folder and copy those folders in from the working sim config folder. Just to be sure we got that sorted.

So from spindle-rotary-tilting-ProbeScreen -> hackbot_srt? Okay I will do that now.

So the next thing would be to start the hackbot config from a terminal.
Open terminal and type:
$ linuxcnc
Then choose the hackbot config from the config picker and post the information from the terminal output.

Did that and had the same error. But the output from terminal looks kind of promising.
