So guys, need to setup my Lathe using my old 5-phase steppers and VFD. This is a temporary setup until I get all parts to shift to AC servos.
How do I setup spindle with 1 pulse/rev? This is leftovers from Mach3 setup.
Will try to find all specs to my very old VFD.
Cheers
Bengt

This is the 7i76e with busted spindle encoder input

Sitting here and doing some pre wiring job and have a question.
In future the spindle motor will be exchanged to 3kW AC servo with Step/Dir.
In enclosed picture I have marked 7i76e Step/Dir output and Encoder input with A is this OK?
The temporary spindle will use VFD with only 1pulse/rev as feedback or If I manage to get another encoder I will be
using it for the task, but where do I hook up the encoder as the normal spindle encoder input is busted?

If that is a 7i85 beside your 7i76, then you have 2 more encoder inputs there, either one of them would work perfectly well.
Just to satisfy my own curiosity, do you know what you did to kill the encoder input on the 7i76e? (Have you tested the encoder inputs with both differential and single ended settings, jumpers W10,11,13? Maybe they might still work one way or the other.)

Thanks Todd.
Will do the wires so I do not have to get this board out when once installed in place in the box.
Re encoder, I really do not know what caused this non functional encoder input.
As I recall I have tried out both diff and single. There is possibly an other encoder coming my way.so I can have it installed and skip the 1 pulse/rev option.

If you end up trying to use the 1 pulse. I think you need to connect it to both the index and A inputs.

OK, that is easily done as I am using RJ45 with Krone blocks in each end of the cable from CPU box to wherever the cable needs to go. All shielded patch cables have been working just fine way back with Mach3.

Can this be correct?
VFD to TB4 : Spindle
REV to PIN 8 = Spindle DIR +
COM to PIN 7 = Spindle DIR -
RUN to PIN 6 = Spindle Enable +
COM to PIN 5 = Spindle Enable -
n/c PIN 4 = not connected
VR+ to PIN 3 = Spindle +
VRC to PIN 2 = Spindle OUT
GND to PIN 1 = Spindle -
