Hi Chris

Have you looked at the problems I wrote about?

I've noticed that qtdragon_hd_vert has a lot of bugs. In 5-axis mode it doesn't start at all... If you want I can fix it (to be honest I already have the fixed file ready)?

PID tuning when you have a tuned Servo in CSP mode?

Category: EtherCAT

Hi

Ethercat is by the developers build as written outs first and then reads inputs .. theoretically there it is a single cycle lag.. but when you have constant timing and very little cycle time it is not big deal..

If you want use pid control from lcnc you will have to use your driver in the CSV mode and do the differential counting in the lcnc itself.. regular pid tunning as with mesa cards analogs etc..

if you are running the drivers in the CSP mode, driver calculated stuff internally by known time period of the ethercat bus .. here is lcnc just a position sender and you have to tune the driver itself internally

Have a look at driver timing setup 60C2 register .. if you periods are same everywhere it can produce your lag easily

Problems switching PDO assignments (EP5101-0011)

Category: EtherCAT

Hi there,

I can not answer you right because I do not have your termals at my bench but that tool has other feature .. if you are able to export the ethercat pdos from your terminal and copy paste the active config to to console right after you type pdos and hit enter .. that tool will translate the terminal output to shape very very common for the config and you just import the sdos and DC config...

I am not expert in the encoder terminals from beckhoff but if it does not support mapping .. everything have to be controlled by pdos or by the EEPROM setup itself.. you have to try them

About the translator tool .. it is not perfect and it should gave us a wrong config but in the 90% percent it is generating the full config right.. i have compared my handmade configs and generated configs and with my hardware it is same same.. i have tested the kollmorgen s300, pilz pmctendo, nidec m753, el6751, el6731,el6631..

About initCmds .. init cmds ==sdoconfigs stuff .. i was little bit lost there but finally i catched that.. i customize the tool to not generate the initCmds in the mative format in the .xml file export..

If you are from eu, send me the card by the post and I can have a look at it .. i have some ttl encoders

Yes, normal jogging with the + - buttons works perfectly.
the command brings up the following when I write the command into the terminal and press ENTER while turning the handwheel.

Does normal motion work?

When attempting jogging, what does:

halcmd show pin | grep jog

(typed in a terminal) report?

ok, it did challenge me a little.

i can now set up an udp connection via w5500 and control a few plugins.

the whole thing now even works with activated arm-core and its clock generation for the FPGA part.
(all in the dev branch)

TODO:

load bitfile into the flash (not only ram)
compile and run my own C code or boot linux on it
much later..... run a UDP bridge on the ARM core

Unsure how you could have had the complete opposite experience, mboston. There isn't much set-up possible on the G251x - it should just work out-of-the-box. There is a tiny trimpot on it that can be ever-so-slightly adjusted with a tiny screwdriver; double-check the manual and try giving that an adjustment at very slow speeds; it is supposed to adjust the smoothness.
