Laser Head Height Sensor – Looking for a Beta Tester

Category: Plasma & Laser

fantastic.

There is still a possibility of implementation, so I would like to adapt it to LinuxCNC as much as possible.

I am not sure if it makes practical sense to process data multiple times, which loses measurement accuracy and introduces additional errors at each stage C/f -> U -> f ...

i can made frequency output directly in sensor.

I see that the THCAD5 card processes voltage to frequencies in the range of 100 kHz - 1 MHz, but I can adapt to any frequency (lower frexuancy could be directly monitored in many "less efficient" controllers and send via cable easyer ), it can also be a PWM output or serial communication, which I can send a ready-to-use height without the need for the CNC system to process the signal, which in my opinion would be the best option.

In your opinion, what would be the best option?

Retrofitting a MAHO MH500W '89-'90 with hand-feed

Category: CNC Machines

Hi Petmakris!

I'm starting a linuxCNC conversion on a MH500W2 with a faulty Philips 432/9. Planning to use all your hard work in order to get it up and running again. I'll be using a Rpi5 and a 7I97T and three EXEs.

My first step has been to wire the mill to the 7I97T, but i have a question about the "Limit"s. In the MAHO documentation the limit switches seems to be connected in series 204-207,

did you rewire these or simply used 205,206,207 as limit X,Y,Z?

Regards,
Hampus

How to use "Opt Block" and "Opt Stop" in QtDragon

Category: Qtvcp

Oh! OMG.

Now I know what those buttons do. I thought they were supposed to be activated by the slashes, and now I've just learned about those M0, M1 codes.

[Dang, I have so much to learn :-( ]

Thank you!

Linuxcnc error

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hello!
I hope you don't mind, if i ask here a question about an error in LCNC.
In the config, at start up no program is loading. (OPEN_FILE = "")
I have a lathe with 3 axis. X axis has an electromagnetic brake. When disabling the drivers pops up an error "File not open" in the right bottom corner.
On the lathe there is a microswitch, to check, was the part cut off. If it pressed, pops up a message component that the cutter tool is boked.
Today, when i pressed manually the switch, the default message pops up and also the "File not open" in the right bottom corner.
The "File not open" error in the right bottom corner also pops up if i press the Run Program button. It is logical.
Not really understand, why is it happening.
Can anyone give any advice?

Update:
We just assembling the mechanics and the "File not open" error pops up again without pressing/switching anything. The spindle servo was turn on a few times. But there are EMI filters...
It looks like something pressing the "play" button (Run Program)

Update2:
The path to "on_abort.ngc" was the error

Yes this needs to be done to work correct.
But for some reason if you change baudrate to max speed this modbus module initially works after 1st reboot in high speeds but not work after 2nd
reboot.
Stop responding and to return in working condition needs hard reset to go in default baudrate.
What can be this problem ?

May be the driver has a setting to set the repetition rate ?
My one reakts with a long touch like preesing the right mouse button. So I was also forced to set that time longer to be able to hold down the touch buttons for longer.

Help,How to customize language of QtDragon's interface

Category: Qtvcp

in 2.9 you would have to add the language folder and the script to automate the making of the .ts file.
And strings defined in the handler file will not be translatable but most of the buttons are done in designer and that should work. (though I have not tried it)

It's possible just more work. (You could also modify the 2.9 handler to add translatable strings, it's pretty straight forward.)

If your interested I can give more detail.

Mesa hm2/hm2_7i96s.0: error finishing read

Category: Driver Boards

The answer is always "it depends". In some kernel traces we did, at 1 kHz, the servo thread was done in around 200 usec and it slept for the remaining 800 usec. On a 2 Khz servo thread, it must be done in 500 usec so in theory, the hardware we had would meet the requirements.
