ColorCNC Colorlight 5A-75E/5A-75B as FPGA controller board

Category: Driver Boards

I used FT232RL firmware interface converter

The jumper for selecting the output supply voltage has been removed, they are powered from contact J33,34
The firmware method is taken from here
openFPGALoader [options] -cft23XXX --pins=TDI:TDO:TCK:TMS /path/to/bitstream.ext

value        |    ID    |    JTAG
TXD        |    0    |    J27 TCK
RXD        |    1    |    J32 TDI
RTS        |    2    |
CTS        |    3    |    J31 TMS
DTR        |    4    |    J30 TDO
DSR        |    5    |
DCD        |    6    |
RI        |    7    |
Vcc        |        |    J33 (3.3в)
GND        |        |    J34 (GND)

We use the command
openFPGALoader --unprotect-flash --cable ft232RL --pins=RXD:DTR:TXD:CTS -f FoXCNC_5a-75e_v8.2_v1.3/gateware/colorlight_5a_75e.bit

To compile the firmware, it is better to use the command with the -a parameter
litexcnc build_firmware FoXCNC_5a-75e_v8.2_v1.3.json --build -a

We will additionally receive the alias.hal file which, when used in LinuxCNC, will give us aliases for the module elements and when changing the firmware, there will be no need to change the hal files.
To use aliases in the ini file, you must first specify the hal file with the litexcnc driver connection, then alias.hal and then the hal file with module processing. Only in this case will everything work!!!

ColorCNC Colorlight 5A-75E/5A-75B as FPGA controller board

Category: Driver Boards

I apologize in advance, English is not my native language and I use an online translator.

I want to share my work with Colorlight 5A-75E board and Litex-CNC firmware
Many thanks to the great specialist @Peter-van-Tol !!!

I used the 5A-75E board. It requires a gigabit connection, there will be no connection on a 100MB network card! I bought an additional PCI network card, and disabled the built-in one in the Bios.
The developer is currently expanding the range of supported boards.
Removed the U19, 20, 21, 22, 38, 39 chips that had an output on Pin 8-15 of the J9-16 connectors. Initially, I powered the input chips from the J33 contact. But when the connection was broken during the firmware, apparently the FPGA inputs began to work as an output and shorted out with the buffer chips. The FPGA burned out.
A 3.3V additional power supply board was made. It is connected to any J9-16 connector and supplies power to Pin 13,15 and to the buffer chips. The input optocoupler is connected to Pin 13,15.
The electronic part of the machine is powered by two 5VDC power supplies: a 5A-75E board and 24VDC (reduced to 20V) sensors and encoders.

Probe Basic V.5 - kein Feedregler mehr? Solved

Category: Deutsch

Bin weiter dankbar für Hinweise, was da klemmen könnte.
LG Hanno

this is an on and off project for me so I built it maybe 4 months ago before there was an official image... I'll pull down the 2.9.4 and reimage the pi with it and see if that makes it happy...

I'll report back if that doesn't fix it..

Indivudual home buttons - EMC2-Axis

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

On my mill there are individual buttons to home, X, Y, Z

On my lathe (EMC2) there is only a home all button.

I would like to be able to home the two axis X & Z independently.

Joint 0 is the X axis, and Joint 1 is the Z axis

How do I go about getting individual home buttons to display and work in EMC2?

For the moment I'm not planning on using actual home switches, just homing from the GUI.

Thanks,
Jeff

What image are you using for the rpi5? I was having read errors on my 7i97 very often with whatever image I was using (I don't remember when I got it) I downloaded the latest off of linuxcnc's site (2.9.4)

It has been rock solid. No issues running it for a week now.

Strange, others have used the RPI5 with Ethernet FPGA cards without issue.

What kernel are you using?

(uname -a)

I guess it could be a hardware issue.

Do lose link lights when you lose the network connection?

I can try and duplicate this when I get a chance.

I was able to cause it to crash out without going into Linux CNC if i load it up too much with commands like
sudo chrt 99 ping -i .001

It handled running realtime at 1ms delay with averages of .101ms  for 10000, 20000 and 30000 pings, but when I jumped to 50000 pings it crashed out at about 40k pings..

So there is something that someone in the "chain" doesn't like under high network traffic..

and again, unplugging and plugging back in (just the network) fixes it... which is... wierd... (to me)..

Here is my Servo Period:
SERVO_PERIOD = 1000000

and here is my Servo Timeout
setp hm2_7i76e.0.watchdog.timeout_ns 5000000

the whole config can be found here (its where I wrote it a while ago, but my old pc died so working on getting it up and running on this pi)

I have removed and then reinstalled Mesaflash exactly following the procedure on github and this seems to have worked a trick.
I now have Mesaflash 3.5.10
mesaflash --device ethernet --addr 10.10.10.10
now results with
ETH device 7I97T at ip=10.10.10.10
and the --readhmid command responds as it should too.  Fantastic.  I wonder if this the newer version or that I had incorrectly installed Mesaflash previously.
I will take a look at MesaCT now - thank you both for your help.

Errors with G code for Qtpalmac

Hello gekonko,
Thank you for your reply, I hadn't looked for replies as I thought I had ticked "send me email when there was a reply".
I don't know very much about G code so am attaching file and screen shots. Could you please have a look and if I need to add G92 show me how and where to add it.
I did 3 tests adding it in between N65 and N70, and called it N67.
First test with G92 then G92.1 and G92.2
The 3 different errors are all in the one error window

Kind Regards
Trevor

If you use Mesa CT to make your configuration files it provides a lot of information about the selected card.
