I have already tested the STEP generators and they work perfectly, the only problem I have found is that the maximum speed I have achieved is 12, any higher speed immediately gives a join X following error. I tried changing the FERROR and MIM ERROR values, it improves I can increase the speed but in the end the following error appears again.

Thanks! Always nice to be appreciated, though I mostly posted that because I want folks to know that stuff is happening in the FreeCAD world- just 'cause it annoyed the snot out of you and crashed 3 months ago doesn't mean it's not noticeably better now (again, at least in the weekly builds).

I'm also just unreasonably excited about that particular feature... mostly because the lack of it has been creating tedium for my CAM workflow. But also- to your point- because from the outside it looks like a super complicate thing to do. Turns out it's been a ton of work, but pretty straightforward. The actual toolpath generation voodoo was already there, I "just" needed to wrap it up with code to automatically find where to machine. That much is at least intuitively "easy" ("cut away everything that is in the stock AND not in the model").

Kernel 6.12 with PREEMPT_RT patches enabled - yet POSIX non-realtime (LM22.1)

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

It does make it somewhat confusing when there are still RT patches put up at kernel.org. I guess one would have to closely look into it and assess their usefulness in the context of Linuxcnc.

The sys patch is also included in the patchsets, so I guess that interface is used by projects\software other than Linuxcnc.

For anyone using the RPi images all that is used is the sys patch, not the full patchset. As per my kernel mentor royka.

More TISM, not for the weak of heart or mind. Sorry I know it's off topic, but they very good at pointing out stupidity in the human race.

Never seen that weird spelling

www.britannica.com/science/silicon

After an attempt to isolate silicon in 1808, Sir Humphry Davy proposed the name "silicium" for silicon, from the Latin silex, silicis for flint, and adding the "-ium" ending because he believed it to be a metal.

Which is kind of interesting.

Football is a regional thing, soccer is used in Australia or soc-her, football can mean AFL, Rugby League or Rugby Union, usually Rugby Union is called Rugby. AFL is most states of Australia, except Victoria, is know as Aerial Ping Pong.

To "Kiss someone's ring" in my country means to "kiss someone's arse".
Bending the knee is not a demonstration of of rebellion or whatever the woke mean it to be. It has always been associated with being knighted and showing respect to the King or Queen.

Cnut has many uses in Australia.
Old Cnut can be an insult or term of endearment.
F*****g Cnut is an insult.

BTW TISM are fantastic.

HMI considerations

Category: Gmoccapy

The question need to be asked different.
What do you, the user expect?

I did Design gmoccapy at the beginning just for me!
I made the mistake to publish if?

So people come and ask for more safety (why is it possible to stop the spindle while milling) and I was blamed, because my GUI caused the breakage of the tool?

So development went on and other developers jumped in and did and do a very good job.

So, what do you miss in gmoccapy?
Why making stuff new from scratch?
Why don't you just jump in and improve an existing GUI?

how to run PCIe Parallel Port in mode x with 9 inputs?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

From the parallel port driver code:
else if ((argv[n][0] == 'x') || (argv[n][0] == 'X')) {
                /* experimental: some parports support a bidirectional
                 * control port. Enable this with pins 2-9 in output mode,
                 * which gives a very nice 8 outs and 9 ins. */
                data_dir[num_ports] = 0;
                use_control_in[num_ports] = 1;
		n++;

Note how the code states
 /* experimental: some parports support a bidirectional
                 * control port. Enable this with pins 2-9 in output mode,
                 * which gives a very nice 8 outs and 9 ins. */

The dumification of humanity through internet

Category: Off Topic and Test Posts

Some stuff that really, really pisses me off daily:
--Who the f@ck decided to rename Silicium to silikone?????
-Silicium is a semiconductor
-silicone is a compound for making molds, and gluing glass, and bathroom tiles, and artificial titties
This is terrifying as there is no periodic table on the whole f@kin internet with the original name, even the f@kin auto correct keep underlining the word Silicium as incorrect! Bloody hell!!!!!!!!
-
-Why do Americans call "gas" a liquid ?????
-Why do Americans call "football" a game with no use of feet ?????
-Why do the internet dumb f@cks call a multi tabbed battery "tables" ?????
-
AMD is really dropping the ball lately, on everything.
To AMD:
Dear Lisa Su, stop f@kin yapping on TV, and stop doing whatever Intel does !!!
They lost, you won, move on
DO NOT sell "performance core and economy core processors", change the naming to something normal as i can not keep up with the bloody naming and versions and variants, it has gotten to damn tedious.
I advise people daily on what hardware to buy, you are making it impossible !
-
Will add more as i bump into whatever

how to run PCIe Parallel Port in mode x with 9 inputs?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I tried using a 470 ohm resistor between the pins and ground but the state does not change.

Try 100 Ohm resistor, they do require more current to switch over than the other pins.

I am glad it is open source, and i wonder for how long? :)
It also crashed NVIDA stock badly and some others, and it crashed crypto markets by about 10% that night, cost me about 38$ in futures trading :(
But still i am glad it happened, the "AI" crap has gotten way out of hands in every possible and impossible way.

I ask Deepseek : how much machine's can you run with linuxcnc on the same shared memory region?

By default, LinuxCNC is designed to run one machine per instance.

I ask ChatGpt : how much machine's can you run with linuxcnc on the same shared memory region?

To summarize: while there's no strict "hard" limit to how many machines you can run with LinuxCNC on a shared memory region

I think DeepSeek has the best responce for this boobie trap question.

Read the effing data sheet. You may also have to browse the driver code for this chip.

This maybe worth a read:
