Help required in testing a few fixes to the 2.9.2 install ISO. Linked added

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Sorry but i just do not have the time required to properly test it.
And having an average of 3 to 10 installs per month with no issues ever, i might have quite the luck in choosing hardware.
And i use Mint always as Debian was very iffy before 12.
I can give it a quick run in a few days though, if that helps.

Will a 7i97T work with in a 3axis teknic setup

Category: Driver Boards

Hello,  I am curious if a 7i97T will work in a mill configuration with 3 axis using teknic servos.  Eventually I want to be able to control the spindle speed from linux cnc but that will come later.  Will a 7i97T work on my setup?

Thanks in advance

2.9.2 LinuxCNC Dell XPS 15 loading ramdisk - out of memory

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

From your screenshots, the only apparent thing is that "secure boot" is active, and that does not play well with Linux despite huge work done in Linux to make it work, there is no escaping the reality that Microshaft made secure boot and payed Intel huge amounts of money with a single purpose = make it impossible to boot Linux.
Rant over, solutions:
1. disable secure boot in BIOS = this will also disable windoze panic and go all spastic and not boot
2. if Debian 12 works, install it, update and upgrade it, then in a terminal
sudo apt install linuxcnc-uspace
that will install everything needed to run LinuxCNC
3. if Debian 12 fails for any reason, get the Linux Mint 6 Debian Edition and follow the same procedure as for Debian 12 above to install LinuxCNC.

1. You have to know where you downloaded the file

Note, at least with Firefox, you can specify "Save link as"
so you know both the name of the saved file and where
its been saved.

2. chmod+x is not valid, chmod +x is (note the space between chmod and +x )

7i92 configuration with two daughter card

Category: Basic Configuration

Now, I am new to firmware.

From where I may get it?
Any guide to installation will be of great help.

This thread will help in it's use.Whilst it is specific to another card the process is the same, just use 7i92 instead of the card mentioned.

Usually on a normal linuxcnc install you don't see the kernel messages as the kernel command line (boot options) has a the quiet switch which suppresses the kernel boot messages, which are a normal part of the boot process.

Personally I can't remember the last time I saw an "out of memory" message.

What makes it even harder is the message you are referring does not appear in the pictures.

One thing of note, laptops are not really suitable for Linuxcnc, it's mentioned some where in the docs. If you want to play around and get a feel fro it, I'd install VirtualBox or similar and use that. Or just run a live session.

If you still insist on installing Linuxcnc on this machine I'd use the google search term "XPS 15 9550 2016 linux out of memory issue" or some such term. On a hunch it could be a UEFI (and or Windows issue) which is really beyond the scope of this forum. And to tell the truth the last time I regularly used windows was in the Vista days.

CHMOD is not the same as chmod,
That is, there is no CHMOD command
but there is a chmod command.

first command:

chmod +x checkmask.txt

second command

./checkmask.txt eth0

You should be able to copy, paste these into a
terminal window (in the Downloads directory
since that's where downloaded files go)

New LinuxCNC-Ethercat git tree

Hi ScottI don't know if this is the right place.I wanted to report a problem.I'm using the EasyIO, with the great work of recent times it is among the devices included in the EtherCAT drivers for LinuxCNC, up until now I had only used the digital IOs which are oknow with a retrofit I need to use the analog output for the spindle, I did some tests but I wasn't able to make it work, LinuxCNC in the HalShow displays that it works but nothing comes out on the outputs with the tester. out of curiosity I also tried the analog inputs and they don't show any signs of life. To verify, I tried the old .XML and the analog outputs and inputs work, while the digital IOs I hypothesize conflict with the LinuxCNC internal drivers, because they work in a bizarre way.

I attach the XML

File Attachment:

File Name: ethercat-c...6-08.xml
File Size:4 KB

Thanks again for your precoius work
