Mesa 7i71 - Stepgen on Digital Output for ATC

Category: Driver Boards

You might try huge step times (say 10000 ns) in your
LinuxCNC configuration since it look like the hardware is OK

Help,How to customize language of QtDragon's interface

Category: Qtvcp

Thanks a lot ,I'm going to translate the string in the qtdragon.ui.

You can do this, but it has some drawbacks. After each update, you will lose all your work.
Moreover, some words are set by the handler file. See qtdragon_handler.py.
If you do this in the theme file and save the file under your own name, there will be no such problems.

Mesa 7i71 - Stepgen on Digital Output for ATC

Category: Driver Boards

Dear Peter,

I tested with your script and can confirm (with oscilloscope), that there is a very slow square wave output on the step pins, the motor also seems to be driven.
So where to go from here ?

Thanks, Lukas

Reinstalled LinuxCNC and won't reconnect to mesa board

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

So you did not successfully change the incorrect 10.10.10.10 host IP address.

I would change it to 10 10.10.100 in the interfaces file, or network manager
and try again (interfaces file changes will not take effect until a reboot or interface
down/up transition)

If you setup ethernet port in the interfaces file,
it will override any network manager settings
(but only after you set the interface down and then up again or reboot)

What does

ip a

report?

Reinstalled LinuxCNC and won't reconnect to mesa board

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Yes, I used network manager. I set the static ip4 for the ethernet connect to 10.10.10.10. I have since tried change that to a 10.10.10.X and I get the same error. I can ping and get it, but can't load linuxCNC to it.

I did just change the network interfaces document, I get the same error and I changed it back. For me the enp3s0

Need help in choosing controller board from small honby cnc.

Category: Driver Boards

I like that you arent doing the normal configuration, it keeps me sharp. But since you are doing unusual setups it may take some figuring out

ok, lets start with the encoder

this is your working (but slow) config yes?
theres a few things I think are happening here. linuxcnc doesnt use the same encoder as remora exactly

you need to download and install the remora encodeer unit and remove your other parts that ref the encoder

github.com/cakeslob/Remora/tree/main/Lin...omponents/PRUencoder

# Initialize the encoder (MPG)
loadrt PRUencoder names=encoder.0
addf PRUencoder.capture-position servo-thread
setp encoder.0.position-scale 400.0
# connect the hal encoder to linuxcnc
net encoder-count <= remora.PV.0

ok, so thats the first part. set that up, and test your encoder using halshow. once you see your increments showing up in halshow under remora.pv.0

then we move on to the next thing

the remora encoder outputs as a float but joint.0.jog-counts is asking for an s32

linuxcnc.org/docs/stable/html/man/man9/conv_float_s32.9.html

looks like you need to feed your remora encoder count, into the conv-float-s32
this should change the signal, to s32 which should work with the jog counts

damn man you are making me work for this

Unfortunately laptops are usually not good real time hosts for LinuxCNC
because they often have power management features that cannot be disabled

That said, some are OK

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
Regarding 1) I looked at the jitter in the latency test and it was in the very good range. I am using a laptop (i7), could this be an additional problem? In Linux I switched off everything that could be switched off there via power options. I have not yet made any settings in the bios.
I will go through points 2 to 5 tomorrow.

I only have basic knowledge of Linux so far and, as already mentioned, I am an absolute beginner in the field of Linux cnc. If steps 1-5 don't bring any improvement on my laptop, I would contact you again about the kernel swap, I don't know how to do that now.

Best regards from Marburg

How did you set it to 10.10.10.10 ?
Using Network Manager probably, so use that or as PCW advised, but not both.

Yes, G64 Pnn
Where nn is the max deviation from line value, so G64 P0.1 would be deviate max 0.1mm from the original line/path.
Adjust accordingly for inches.

You need to launch the editor with root privileges, like

sudo mousepad /etc/network/interfaces

Ah sorry, had trouble uploading it. Should be fixed now.

Is G61 set by default? I don't see it in the gcode. I think I want to try G64, right?

What is the best way to do that?

I tried opening the "/etc/network/interfaces" document. I can edit it, but it won't let me save it.
