It needs some testing to do this but maybe.
Let's say a pitch of 10 mm with the first thread starting at Z0.0 and the second at Z5.0, would this work ? It depends if lcnc always starts moving the Z axis right after the spindle index signal I think.
Your opinion please
Fern

Hi Fern,
For the multiple start thread, from what I know, its correct how you described above.
And for the previous question: "Is retract the distance when doing multipass and safe when completed?" I would say yes.
You were mentioning about tool change position being specified in the ini file.
Do you have an example for that?
Thanks,
Vasi

It is in the configuration documentation and looks like this :
New version 0.1.13 threading does automatic depth calculation AND multi-helix. Test with care because I can not do threads yet with my lathe. I recommend you first use a plastic rod like delrin or so to test it.
Best regards
Fern

It is in the configuration documentation and looks like this :
[EMCIO]
# tool table file
TOOL_TABLE = lathe.tbl
# not necessary in demo
#TOOL_CHANGE_POSITION = 2 0 1
#TOOL_CHANGE_WITH_SPINDLE_ON = 1

Hi Fern,
Thanks for the update. Unfortunately I'm out of town until monday so I won't be able to test it.
Can't wait to get my hands on it!
PS. Because you mentioned to report issues.. another issue that I had, was related to that numeric input that shows up when entering a value. I had situations where that popup would not disappear nor allow input. Tried escape, back, delete, click outside..nothing
I don't wanna say smth stupid but if I remember correctly, the last time, I've closed linuxcnc and that popup was still on the screen even if linuxcnc was off.
Cheers!

Hi Fern,
I have some issues with that calculator like popup that I cannot close. There are moments when I have to restart pc in order to get rid of it. Closing linuxcnc is not enough..
You can see in the image below.
I would be grateful for a fix
