The drives encoder outputs will not work without drive power
(but should work with the drives disabled)
(looks like disconnecting CN8 pin 15 will disable the drive)

By not asserting the drive enable signal (however that is done on those drives)

well tried everything I could think of. In linux cnc I can move the axis and get position movement, but no actual. If it doesn't come together by this weekend the machine will be up for sale. I have an offer for another small machine that will take g code, but no tool changer, slower spindle, no coolant, and no enclosure.
If anyone is interested I will be selling for 2500 with 5i25, and 7i77 card viao computer and all the cables I made.

I feel sure that this can be done.
Can you explain what you mean by " I can move the axis and get position movement, but no actual" ?

Who are they? Besides, these old girls are actually pretty good machines. Great footprint and can be wicked fast. I agree with Andy - get it running.
Andy - I believe he might mean that the monitor is "showing" or indicating movement on the screen, but that they hardware is not actually doing any moving.
