Just tried with the z axis. (it is diconected from the machine, so easier to work with)
all the axis have resolvers as you thought

I disconected the plug from cn8 and the motor will not turn at all now. No motion, no signals.

Next I will try at the plug end on the motor/ resolver while it is connected to the drive to see if I get some voltage.

Also had no control from linux.

You cannot remove CN8 or the motor drive will not get any position signals from the motor (so measurements are of no use)

What I meant was looking an the signals from CN8 pins 9 and 10 when CN8 is connected (but the other end is not connected to the 7I77)

On the cn8 plug, there are no wires connected to pin 9 and 10 ??

When I checked I had voltage flucuations upto apx 3 volts.

Also no linux control for the axis.

Back in July I suggested connecting: (note this is encoder 0)
DRIVE 7I77

ENCODER

CN8-10 A TB3-1
CN8-9 /A TB3-2
CN8-12 B TB3-4
CN8-11 /B TB3-5
CN8-17 Z TB3-7
CN8-13 /Z TB3-8

ANALOG VELOCITY COMMAND

CN8-1 AOUT TB5-4
CN8-2 GND TB5-3

What _did_ you connect to the 7I77 encoder inputs?

Also, just noticed, all my wiring is to cn9 on my machine, not cn8

Wow, I'll look into new connectors and re wire everything up, and get back to you.

According to this print out I was wondering if I could still use CN-9 wires
CN8-10 A TB3-1 CN9-3
CN8-9 /A TB3-2 CN9--4
CN8-12 B TB3-4 CN9-5
CN8-11 /B TB3-5 CN9--6
CN8-17 Z TB3-7 CN9--8
CN8-13 /Z TB3-8 CN9-7

Sure, as long as you use the correct ones
(this can be verified with a voltmeter as discussed previously)
