This will solve your homing problem
linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/config/ini-...ml#_immediate_homing

But if you have a gantry you will need home switches on each side as that is how the gantry is squared up when homing with 2.8 and 2.9

If you do it the way Rod has linked to it will work OK. You will need to have some match marks on your machine so you can line them up before homing. I have never used home or limit switches before and have not had any problems.

In the [JOINT_2] section of your INI file comment out these two lines:
HOME_SEARCH_VEL = 0.050000
HOME_LATCH_VEL = 0.050000

In every [JOINT_n] section add the line:
HOME_SEQUENCE = 0

You need to edit the INI file that the Configurator made, something like <machine_name>.ini

You need a program running to fire the torch or you can use the torch pulse button
