That is the power control box, or power box.
I would not install anything there, to much stuff already.

OK. We will empty the control box and put the computer and the cards there:
Relays have not been delivered yet.

The X motor also has a control box behind it. I guess this stays.

SO I went back in time and read your post.
The Z motor board goes.
The plasma cutter box stays.
The X/Y motor boards stay

No, not the board, that is the servo drive for the X axis motor.

The only things to remove:
Z axis motor to be replaced
Control box electronics where the monitor was.
Nothing else.
