"Something" is trying to compile "something" with no connection to LinuxCNC and failing.

I suspect that the RTAI kernel you are trying to use ( 3.4-9 ) isn't the right one for the Mint version.

The version specified in this thread is 3.4-9, so rather than reinvent the wheel I am following the cookbook notes in this thread and hoping someone else had followed this thread an gotten past this error.

My PC is a HP C2 Duo so nothing tricky there.

Not sure why this is failing.

You probably don't even need ndiswrapper, and looking at the code:
sourceforge.net/p/ndiswrapper/code/HEAD/...wrapper/driver/crt.c
it isn't clear what particular devices use crt.c

Do you have a wireless network dongle plugged in?

I do, no cat 5 to the garage.

I will bring the PC into the house and start over.

Great catch Andy - thanks

I will report on the progress.

I reloaded from scratch with the dongle off and hardwired to the router.

An idea from the IRC, you could try uninstalling ndiswrapper through the package manager, and see if things work better then.

Why use ndiswraper ? If i remember correctly there are other proprietary drivers for broadcom cards. Do you get any other option, like btxxx drivers ???
I do not have any of those, but i know that you get a choice of them in Linux Mint and Ubuntu when using the driver manager that comes with those distributions.
I know from experience that ndiswraper will mess up the system in 80% of installs, and some times irreversible.
Hold on leme read ............nope no mention of the wifi chipset, so i gues it is broadcom.

I am following the cookbook notes in this thread exactly with no modifications. I installed from the downloaded Mint ISO with no additional software. The ndiswapper was unexpected. This is a standard HP Tower with no built in wireless.

Andy - Thanks! That did it, I got past the ndis error.

Thankfully this is documented for the next guy.
