Some good news and bad news.

1. booted 64 bit = lathe did run pawn.ngc without any problems.
!! Touch did work but bad calibration !!
2. did some browsing in catalogs back and forth = FREEZE !!!

3. booted 32 bit = lathe is running OK and Touch is working as it is calibrated.
dis same a lot of browsing and no problems, did leave running latency-histogram and will go back and see how it looks and if it is frozen or not.

I'll be back ;)

PCW wrote i915.enable_rc6=0 i915.enable_dc=0

Is this to be inserted on the same line as isolcpus=2,3 in grub.cfg? Maybe a cure for the freezing in 64bit??

Yes same line as isolcpus, that line is to do with the GPU, it shouldn't hurt to try it.

When you say freeze, can you elaborate as to what is actually happening ? Is it just one window, all windows is the system completely unresponsive ?

If you press CTR-ALT-F1 can you get a login text console and can you log in ?
CTRL-ALT-F7 should get you back to your desktop.

If you have irqbalance installed try removing it by
sudo apt-get remove irqbalance
I noticed that was installed with the realtime linux-image

Been down in the shop and tried to stress 64bit but now I cannot reproduce that freezing. It is now running latency test so I will see later on if I can get it freeze again.

Well now it just froze again no responce from keyboard/mouse/touch and there is no other way than take out the power and reboot.
I have now added GPU lines to grub.cfg and I did remove irqbalance. Tested a short while but have to do some more testing tomorrow and see if it behaves as it should.

Only added
python-rsvg
Xinput calibrator
Xterm

I'd try reseating the RAM modules and running memtest. Could be a bad memory location that the 64 bit OS is accessing that the 32 bit OS doesn't touch.

if you don't already have a grub menu selection for memtest run
sudo apt-get install memtest86

When you reboot there should be a grub menu item for memtest, select that, or if it is not in the main main it maybe hidden in the advance selection.

Installed memtest86, new entries in grub but not one of these works! Freezes up at once only restart will work.

I think I have to get another PC as this is just too much, looking at

Looks like you got a bit of a lemon, was it brand new or second hand ?

I went with one of these, it's going in a cabinet with all the bits & pieces, probably not a solution for you.

And one of these SSD's. The vendor sent me a 16GB module even tho I ordered an 8GB :)

Might even consider one of those 12v mini supplies.
