I have a problem setting up my ip address to communicate with my 7i97T board.I followed the procedure in the link gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/debian-12-eth.html

I have the following problems

 

My board is setting to *SET FROM EEPPROM

I worked for a while on QtPyVCP and the VTK plotter.

I have installed LinuxCNC on 3 computers so far. 
1) Laptop i7: Very good latency times, very poor ping times - > unusable
2) Esprimo Q956 Mini PC with i5: poor latency, good ping - > unusable
3) DELL Optiplex 7010 Mini PC with Intel Celeron G2030 (by far the weakest processor): good latency, good ping (see appendix) -> usable
 
So the worst of the 3 processors is the best for real-time Linux in terms of latency and ping!!!???
So it must also be due to the mainboard, possibly the memory, ... !?

Indeed, the gantry.comp should not be used on new configurations, the correct behaviour is now built-in to LinuxCNC.

Are you still working on Remora_eth for v429? Did you looked at ld.script link I have posted?

I'm pretty new in this field and I'm trying hard to figure this out.
I have some challenges that I'm dealing with.
The first one, I couldn't use the GPIO driver which Guglielmi created. I'm getting some errors after configuring and writing the HAL code.
I installed the .deb package of linuxcnc and then installed the wiringop seperately.
Then as explained in following link, I cloned linuxcnc git and then copied and pasted the related files in the considered destination.

I actually tried the halcmd loadrt hal_op5_io, but I got failed error and said it's not existed.

The second question is, is it necessary for OS to be real-time to execute this gpio driver?

and at last, can u please explain again that how should I make my Armbian, Debian bookworm to be real-time? I did the following link procedure as Royka said.

Es scheint, dass bei der sserial port Konfiguration etwas schief gegangen ist. Kannst du bitte mal die erstellte .hal Datei posten?

Guten Morgen, 

die Steuerung ist auf dem Schreibtisch aufgebaut. PC, 7i96s + 5V Netzteil, JMC CLS auf StepGen1 + 24V Stromversorgung. 
Wie vorgeschlagen habe ich mit pncconf eine Maschine konfiguriert. 
Beim Start der Maschine erhalte ich eine Fehlermeldung
 

Die MESA Karte habe ich nach folgendem Video eingerichtet

Nur die IP habe ich auf Standard gelassen da der PC nicht im Netz hängt. Auf einem anderen PC hat die Konfiguration vor ein paar Wochen problemlos funktioniert.
Ping funktioniert 
MesaFlash ebenfalls
Danach habe ich mit pncconf eine Maschine konfiguriert. Es ist nur ein Motor (Y-Achse auf Steckplatz 1 angeschlossen)

Hat jemand eine Idee wo der Fehler liegt?

Mesa 7i76E ist die controller.
Umdrehzahl fur die spindel?
Normal ein 100-1000PPR encoder ist OK.

Was meinst du mit Controller?
Wieviel Impulse sollte der Drehgeber haben?

TTL incremental encoder mit A, B und Index oder Z, das soll ok sein.
Was fuhr ein controller?
Parallel port oder Mesa?
Welche Mesa?

Debian should install on anything, I got Bookworm running on a circa 2006 Intel iMac desktop, as long as you give it the whole disk and don't intended to dual with MacOS it's pretty straight forward......oh needs nomodeset added to grub once installed .......but thats off topic.

I think Probe Basic uses VTK for preview, from reading here as it was mentioned in regards to RPI not having VTK support, and i recall something was done to make it work.
Me not helping ...
