G-Code Verarbeitung: Kurze Pausen zwischen Bewegungen - Wie beschleunigen?

Category: Deutsch

Another Idiot attempts to use Probe Basic and begs for help

Category: QtPyVCP

Ok, So followed the guide from square one, installed Probe_basic and QTPyVCP from scratch and have the sims working fine, Created a new config using Step Config in Axis and had that working fine...

Followed the guide on Github word for word (At least I think so) and am now getting errors, I haven't changed or added / subtracted anything. this is as it from following the guide. Included in my .ini .hal and the error report and a screen shot of my config folder to see what Files I have in there  :)

Thanks

@tommylight

Home set to 0
Home offset set to -5

Did that. It go up fast click returns slow click and it goes up again but it don't clear the switch and I get error:

Joint2 on limit switch error
Position: relative actual

And I can't move the machine.
If I make home offset

Home set to 0
Home offset set to 5

I get exactly what I want : go up fast click returns slow click and goes it goes down 5 mm buuut .... i get an error :

Exceeded POSITIVE soft limit (0.0000) on joint 2

@rodw

Your first link is all you need.
The chapter on ini configuration may be slightly useful too.
Note that Home switches must stay triggered to end of travel. Are yours doing this?

Thank you! If that all I am screwed because non of this make sense :) .
If "Home switches must stay triggered" why do i get error :

Joint2 on limit switch error
Position: relative actual

manueller Werkzeugwechsel/-auswahl

Category: Deutsch

Moin

Performance issues after switching from LCNC 2.8.4 Buster to 2.9.3 Bookworm

Category: EtherCAT

Hi Rod,

I went through your document. My NIC is identified as:

edmuser@edmpc:~$ lspci -k | grep -A 3 -i ethernet
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 15)
Subsystem: IP3 Tech (HK) Limited RTL8111/8168/8211/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Kernel driver in use: r8168
Kernel modules: r8168

I updated the driver according to the document and rebooted. Now, I would like to add the settings r8168.aspm=0 r8168.eee_enable=0 pcie_aspm=off loglevel=3
If I add r8168.aspm=0 or r8168.eee_enable=0 then the grub customizer does not allow me to save, throwing a "not found" error. I was able to save the pcie_aspm=off, loglevel=3 and quiet isolcpus=2,3 settings.

I will run tests to see if the new driver and the settings I did manage to save already fixes my issue, but since you suspect that the energy efficient ethernet might be a root cause of the problem, I really want to set that to off, but can't.

Ok, I'll look at it in about 6 hours, perhaps there is something missing... Although that would make me think that the nvme is already not recognized with the rt kernel kernel booted from SD...

To be sure, you didn't miss the following part?
"Also after installing LinuxCNC it updated the iniramfs of the old kernel and linked uInitrd to the old kernel one. To prevent that from happening it might be better to remove the old kernel (after making a backup).
Otherwise you could: sudo update-initramfs -u -k all"

In case you missed it, check with "ls -l /boot" if /boot/uInitrd points to the correct uInitrd

Another Idiot attempts to use Probe Basic and begs for help

Category: QtPyVCP

Hey mate, thanks for the reply by the guide on the website I'm assuming you mean the github? or is there a dedicated site I'm missing? haha I followed the link on this (kcjengr.github.io/probe_basic/quick_start.html) clicked on the (Build your own config) link and it took me back to your post on these forums from 2023 so again not super sure what I am and am not supposed to be following could you please chuck me a link so I'm %100 sure? Thanks :D

And I provided no error with my post because I didn't get any, after mucking about with my config folder it lets me into probe_basic without any error pop ups but it just doesn't work.

When I get confirmation on exactly what guide to follow I'll delete everything and start from scratch exactly how the guide says and I'll report back any errors I get. Thanks again for the help!

Also the config build I used it just Stepconfig that comes built in with linuxcnc

G-Code Verarbeitung: Kurze Pausen zwischen Bewegungen - Wie beschleunigen?

Category: Deutsch

Fast Hole EDM from Hacked Parts

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

The words "holeflix and spotdrillfy" I made up refering to streaming platforms.

What I wanted to say is that it might be a good idea to pay someone to do the EDM part of the project. Provided it is only about getting the job done and not so much about toying around and experimenting.

To get good results with the technology requires experimenting and constant process control. (from what I could find watching youtube, and from  conversations) For a tap removal they charge me 6-9 USD, too less even to justify a cheap tap remover EDM. One time the neighbor set his oil on fire when he was trying to help me to remove a carbide end mill. We stopped the exercise at this point.

To keep a nominal accurate diameter with acurate positioning is obviously not so easy. I saw a EDM tap. To get it to make accurate threads is not trivial. The secret seems to be the shape of the electrodes.

@Tommy: I would be tempted to jump in, in some way. I saw some comments somewhere that sinker EDM requires higher current outputs than wire edm.

The power requirements seem to be different (guessing from comments) between sinker EDM, wire EDM and hole drilling.

I think a CNC sinker EDM can be very useful. Work with partial electrodes. e.g. using a small square electrode to clean up corners in blind holes, doing undercuts, threading etc.

Greetings Timo

G-Code Verarbeitung: Kurze Pausen zwischen Bewegungen - Wie beschleunigen?

Category: Deutsch

Hallo zusammen,

Alright. Grounded every component like it should be, including one end of all my shielded wire. Cleaned up the signals very good! I even have tolerances to where i need them. I do get an occasional limit switch or probe trip a program, so a decent debounce should help me. Could someone write one according to my INI. I feel like I have the concept, but the parports get me to wonky.

6.11 shows SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC out of the box, did not test LinuxCNC yet.

PREEMPT_RT Real time OS is supported natively from Kernel 6.12 and on so not 6.11 (which will require applying the RT patches) before setting the Preempt RT switch and building.
