Installing older version of ProbeBasic on buster and linuxcnc 2.8

Category: QtPyVCP

I'm trying to switch to the newer version but with my own screen i built back than..

I installed the dev version of ProbeBasic and exchanged the probe_basic.ui with my own. If i use the launcher probe_basic_mill_designer.sh it opens my screen and luckily it looks quite promising so far. Its only missng two attributes "referenceType" and "axis".

But if i want to test the sceen and open the desktop starter probe basic mill it shows the standard UI. Regarding to the documentation this should run LinuxCNC with the UI changes i made shouldn't it? Where is the GUI of probe basic located?

And is paramsaver not available anymore with linuxCNC 2.9? It seems that it cannot load it.
Ok just found out that the shortcut for probe basic mill just uses the ui which is in python3/dist-packages/probe_basic
i thought the dev edition runs a virtual enviroment ?

Thanks again PCW, a lowpass filter with a gain of 0.01 did wonders for the spindle load. It's very stable now.

I have been thinking of adding a laser cross to the machine.
Did a search on this forum. But did not find anything. If I missed it please point me tho the right thread.

My question is how many watts that you can see it nicely. Are there any safety issues for eyes?
Are those cheap ones you get on aliexpress ok?

Where did the REFX REFY REFZ buttons go?

Category: Qtvcp

I was working along with qtdragon and the milling machine. Then I had a reason to test the latest version of linuxcnc and now the REFX REFY and REFZ buttons are gone. I do need them, I do a lot of touching off and almost every time I enter a value from that menue.
It looked like this (from the manual)

and now it looks like this

I have tried to find it back in the gui code, but it seems the buttons are gone.

Is there any way to get the buttons back? Or how is manual touching off supposed to be done?

Thanks!
I will try it at home.

If there is any issue with the "because device is strictly unmanaged" while activating the connection, this helped me

What specific issues are you experiencing with your tool changer after the update to version 2.9.3, and have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve them?

G-code optimization

Category: G&M Codes

Hello.

I wanna reduce my part processing time by optimizing generated g-code. Currently i am using Fusion360 as CAM program. I've seen some optimizers that says we save %20 of your time. For complex pieces, it would be very useful to save any time.

Do you guys know any G-code optimizer as i mentioned? I need it to save time in context described below:
1- By increasing the feed rate of unnecessary movements. (Returning to first position without processing the piece, free movements)
2- By eliminating free moves as much as possible

I would appreciate any information.

Thank you.

Retrofiting Scm record 220

Category: CNC Machines

Hello,
does anybody finished a retrofit on a SCM Record 220?

I have problems with the NUM1040 controller. This time i work on my first LinuxCNC retrofit on an other machine and i prepare to do this on the SCM Record 220, too.
My SCM Record 220 is from 1998 and there are Yaskawa SGDB AC-servo-drives inside.

It would be interesting if somebody could share his experience with this machine.

Best regards

By instability I mean you will start to seen oscillations if D is too high
Once D is as high as possible, you can do the same with the P term
(raise it until you get oscillations and then back off about 30%)

What is the issue with plotting the bus voltage?

Can you provide a plot of the position error and PID output?
