One way to debug this is to widen the following error limits
and then plot the commanded and feedback joint positions
with halscope.

I'm trying to do what the manual says, but I'm getting errors. I can't connect ddt to the testpanel, nor can I connect it to ci402.0.pos-scale. It seems difficult to do this for someone at my level.

Hi guys!I want to repeat the project Marco Reps, I bought these servo amplifiers but I have problems with starting. I have assembled a test configuration on the table and am trying to run it linuxcnc. I've made some progress, but I really need your help!I can rotate the motors if I connect to the USB in the leadshine Motion studioTell me, do I need to change any servo settings for the first launch?I get a response when I request ethercat slaveI have attached screenshots of my startup problem, all the Marco Reps files I am experimenting with and photos of the servo amplifiers (look at what they show on their displays? is this correct?)I really need your help in getting this system up and running.

Again, please clarify which drive you ended up taking. Because a closed-loop drive is sold by the seller at a slightly higher price. This is probably due to the low-level firmware. They might have sent you a cheaper version.

Like jmelson suggested. Look also at docs for BE25A20 or similar from AMC.
I'm guessing your motor is brushed with encoder? This drive should run brushed or brushless. Set the 60 deg phasing switch for brushed and use phase1 and 2 for the motor. (check doc 1st)
You need to confirm the voltage class of the drive and set the current limit dip switches and pot to match your motor. Continuous current and peak.
Some things to look out for is the drive may not be isolated. AMC makes isolated and non isolated versions and I had trouble with noise on my machine. May or may not be an issue for your setup.
Also you will have to tune the drive 1st before hooking it up to linuxcnc. Ideally you'll need a function generator and scope to get it correct. If your motor is a good match, you may get lucky and can tune it close with the dip switches/gain pot and without the need of scope.
Linuxcnc's built in scope will reveal if your drive is not tuned correctly once hooked up to the machine.

Homing result in joint on limit switch error

Category: Basic Configuration

Hello,

I keep getting the following erro: Joint on limit switch error on my lathe Z axis.
I have a signle switch for homing and Z max.
You can find attached my hal and ini files.here is the procedure:I click on homing Axis Z, the machine in moving against the tailstock, where the switch is, the switch is triggered, the machine comeback a little bit and go again against the switch at lower speed.
When the switch is triggered the second time, I get the joint limit error.maybe you can help me to spot the mistake in my INI file?

Thank you very much

Is there an easy way to swap axes?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hi Guys,

A bit of serious thread necro here :)

I have my Maho MH400E configured as a vertical mill, and am trying to set up a second INI and HAL with it configured to use the horizontal spindle. For this I need to switch Z and Y, and negate one.

I have something messed up, and spent a couple of evenings trying to trouble shoot it, but cant see the issue. The MH400E HAL and ini work fine, the Horizontal hal and Ini load without error, but cause a Y axis error as son as I push the start button.

I would appreciate if anyone can spot my (probably dumb) mistake. Thanks.

Cheers,
Mark

This is a relabeled AMC analog servo amplifier. Probably quite similar to their BX25A20 model. If you look that up, you will see the OBVIOUS similarity. A number of companies sold AMC amps under their own label. This amp takes in analog -10 V to +10 V velocity command signals, and apparently generates a synthetic tach signal from the encoder A and B signals. You need a controller that provides an analog velocity command output. Pico Systems has their PPMC, and Mesa has suitable options, too. This is nothing like a step-direction drive system. An analog velocity command voltage is sent from the control, the servo amp delivers voltage to the proper motor windings to make the motor's speed match in proportion to the command, and the encoder provides position feedback to the control PC.

scarakins axis follow problem in -x and -y zone

Category: Advanced Configuration

You can try compiling the modified 'scarakins.c' using 'halcompile'
sudo halcompile --install <your_path>/scarakins.c

You will need the dev package for halcompile to be available.
sudo apt install linuxcnc-dev

If that does not compile then you will need to build LinuxCNC locally on your computer:
