If the power supply can do over 2A of current, yes you can use the same supply.
And no, that 2A is not related at all to the 2A written on the drive.

catching up on replies now, i was out traveling for work the last few days. Here are the links to the motor and driver i am using.

 - Does speed make a difference?
No it doesn't seem like it. The Arduino code i am running does  a slow loop and a fast loop changing the delay int between steps and its been consistent every time. Although i haven't cranked the speed up and don't plan on it.

- you are correct, i am trying to understand the most optimal way to get this into Lcnc and based on previous posts I can maybe modify the drivers software to make that a whole number. Still investigating this though.

- I have and it works as expected and repeatably. The issues comes up when i put it into the pulley system, with the reduction i can't hone in a precise step/rev, from which i can derive the steps/deg for a rotary axis in LCNC. 
- in regard to the pulleys, I am certain the motor pulley isn't (the ole sharpie method) the idler doesn't count, and no am im not 100% certain that the drive shaft is fixed in place, however with everything powered down i can turn the drive shaft and it turns the motor pulley. that on top of the low speeds and it being uploaded gives me a decent amount of confidence in my answer. 
- I also haven't even begun to tackle any of the encoder/ pid error stuff because when i tried initially i discovered this the issue we're dealing with now, that comes next once i have this setup pretty good.

- This is my plan. I have the cable and am able to get it to talk to my PC, the issue is once i get it its all french to me. How would i verify the 4:1 encoder resolution? Should the drive be connected to the motor when i do this? I am going to spend the next few hours messing with it on the software side and ill report back what i learn or how i mess up.

In your opinion is it safe to connect this driver and stepper?
Can I use the same 24V power supply that I use to power NVEM or is it better to use a separate one?
I only need it to test the jjdege conf (if I'm not mistaken it's the same conf as mine then it will tell me nvem-rt1052.txt)
to check the outputs.
I will never use this driver-stepper as a final solution.

You won't need to develop a driver, you just need to write an xml file.
the wiring is substantially reduced using Ethercat drives over mesa.
Do you really need an encoder? The only purpose I can see is rigid tapping but thread milling is more efficient and it does not require it.

Everything about Ethercat is more expensive but it is the emerging standard. It does add a bit of complexity to the config. The bit that is not really worked out is the internal drive homing but using Linuxcnc homing is just as simple as mesa. I've had good luck finding reasonably priced Beckhof modules on ebay (including encoders) but some are outrageously priced, more expensive than new modules.

Ethercat with rs485 controlled VFD is the simplest way to run your spindle but there is now a linuxcnc driver for Omron mx2 VFD's .

Para la version actual de linuxcnc2.9x ,el archivo  jog_ui.hal que mensiono en el inicio de este hilo necesita una actualizacion.
Adjunto aqui arriba el archivo jog_ui_29.hal donde esta implementado el mismo funcionamiento con axisui.

its just all round better if you have a 1080p rouch screen, plus it adds probing and too handling if you have repeatable tooling.

Also make sure you read this entire document:

It seems like HOME is the INI variable you need to change.

That drive and board require Quadrature outputs, LinuxCNC can do that easily, but i have no idea if Remora can do that.
There are 9 or 10 stepgen types that LinuxCNC can do, and probably 3 of those should work.
And just to be clear that "drive" is not a drive, it is an array of Darlington transistors that can handle 500mAh, if i recall correctly.
Apparently there are 15 types now, just checked so i need to update myself from 2008! :)

Post your INI file please and we'll see what needs editing.

And yes, homing is a never-ending struggle for LCNC users - both new and old-but-rusty.

Hello, I managed to install the homecomp independently, and Linux CNC also started. The servos are also enabled according to Linux CNC, but they don't go into op mode, only preop mode. When I try to jog manually, a lag error immediately occurs. What's wrong? I'm using Stepperonline A6 motors, but they're the same as the EL8, just with a different name.

First time to try build my xml for not listed ethercat in-out component

Run the "lcec_configgen" command and put the output in a file.
It will have all the pdos, but you can just delete all except the ones you need. So you need to figure out which PDOs you need to use.
It will also have all the numbers etc in the right places, so if you are lucky it can work.
At least use it as starting point.
