What’s causing this slag on -move on x axis

Category: Plasmac

Air pressure is the same and so should be the speed. Say I cut out a 1” x 4” rectangle. If I start at the bottom right corner and cut left in the -x direction I will get tons of slag on the part but non on the sheet. Once I cut up in the y and then start cutting right in the +x direction the slag moves from the part and goes to the sheet and the part is slag free. That’s why this is confusing me and quite frustrating.

Temporary materials was not loaded in a timely manner

Got Linuxcnc loaded onto the replacement drive. I just hope setting it up is easier than it was 3-4 years ago. I really struggled the first time I set it up as I am not a Linux guy at all so it was very confusing.

CINCINATTI MILACRON ARROW 500 (BDS4 + VFS5) WITH MESA 7i77 + 6i25 WITH LINUXCNC

Category: Milling Machines

Hi,

Good day. Newbie here. Would just like to crowdsource and steer us to the right direction with regards to retrofitting a milacron arrow with BDS4 axis servo controllers and VFS5 spindle servo controllers.

Any inputs and directions will be greatly appreciated.

I'd set the value in LinuxCNC to 120 -130% of the obtained latency data ..

That is valid for base period when using parallel port. Mesa boards do not use base period at all, and the servo period should be left at default 1000000 ( 1 mill ).

Vielen Dank

problem is i have no idea what i need haha.

i do have an xml for the drive but looking inside of it, i guess that's unrelated here.

I made a twincat project just to see, and the drives are telling me i have a data type length mismatch or something. So thats not helping me any haha.

sigh. were in the "i dont even know what questions to ask" part of the project.

Ok just checked and not much there, so
How are you loading the file and from what?
If from network or USB, try copying to HDD and load from there.

This link didn’t work earlier, this is why I remembered this.

Thanks Tommy.

What is causing this error when I load my Gcode file.

I vaguely remember this, and I’m pretty sure we changed the behavior around this. I will double check tomorrow.

The other warning is because you have feed rates set by the material selection, as well as hard coded in the file.

I’m curious what version you’re actually running? It’s listed in the window title bar.

Yes we are interested in potential screen alternatives. We don't you post some pics.
Master is fine for digging out the hidden bugs assuming the major functions work.
I have a 'best/preferred practice' page for GUIs I should add it to master.

How are you testing now? Are you installing the files in the config folder?

Calling pockets with carousel

That would explain my issue. I thought it was odd when I read the M-code explanation of M68. I was calling it without ever setting it...  I now see that section in the toolchangers for dummies video.
I will try "net car-pos-req motion.analog-out-00 => conv-float-s32.0.in"
And "net car-pos-s32 conv-float-s32.0.out => carousel.0.pocket-number"

Thank you for saving me Andy!

Alright, I lied, I haven't given up yet :P
I went and tuned the X and Y. not perfect, but tracks within a couple microns and overshoots only 4-10 microns during 1G acceleration. Also only deviates 2-3 microns when I yank on the spindle with all my weight while moving.

If i can get the linuxcnc part going this thing is gonna rip :)
