Getting started with 6i25+7i75+7i85s

Category: PnCConf Wizard

Thank you very much so far, gentlemen.
I've gotten the lathe to run, but now, when I try threading with it, I have two curiosities.
First, The lathe can accurately thread only up to about 150 mm/min of z feed. Faster than that and it no longer stays synchronised. This is not a big deal, but seems odd as my z axis moves up to 1200 mm/min.
Second, more significantly, when a threading program is rerun, it is not synchronised with the previously turned thread, but picks a new, seemingly random start. This happens only when a program is rerun. If a single program has multiple passes, it keeps them lined and the thread turns out fine.
For spindle speed, I have timing belt driven quadrature encoder that puts out 3000 pulses per spindle revolution and a photogate reading a plate with a single slit mounted directly on the spindle for the index pulse.
Any leads on how I could go fixing these?

You could use the 'motion.analog-out' pins (M68):
linuxcnc.org/docs/html/gcode/m-code.html#mcode:m68

If you wanted you could define your own M-code or Subroutine that sets a particular analog output pin so you would not have to enter the E-word all the time.

We cannot pass strings in gcode and the only way to use something like that would be a subroutine (eg o<yoursubroutine>call)

Mozmck's script requires your interfaces file to setup the interface and that the host IP address
in parts of his script are changed to match that IP address in the interfaces file.

Alternatively, maybe adding my little script to the Linuxcnc startup script would be a simple solution

(the command "linuxcnc" is a script)

Open a terminal application (from the main desktop menu or try keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl'+'Alt'+'t') and type 'linuxcnc' (and press enter/return) then that should open the config picker and you can select your machine config. Then check the output in the terminal window once the error has occured and copy/paste that here.

How to Control a PWM Gripper

Category: G&M Codes

I have my hobby robot gripper working and an Axis GUI slider to manually control/test it.  So now I need a hook to control the gripper from an eventual gcode program.

I'm thinking of having 3 states, Open, Close, Variable.  I'll need to output a float value, so is this best suited for G, M, O, or other code?

Secondly are "aliases" possible in gcode?  For example "Gripper Open"  or "M65 Open" something relatively simple.
######## rcPWM Gripper Control

setp hm2_[MESA](BOARD).0.rcpwmgen.rate 50
setp hm2_[MESA](BOARD).0.rcpwmgen.00.width 1
setp hm2_[MESA](BOARD).0.rcpwmgen.00.offset 1.39
setp hm2_[MESA](BOARD).0.rcpwmgen.00.scale 180
net PWMcmd  pyvcp.servo-f  hm2_[MESA](BOARD).0.rcpwmgen.00.width        #float

Not just the SAKO issue, all VFD's and servo drives do that, some more some less, but they all do.
Adding ferrite beads to motor wires usually lowers EMI to manageable levels, shielded motor cables help some more.

Yea that could probably be changed without much fuss, might give it a try when i get a chance.
Thank you for reminding us.
In the mean time, have a look here, some of us made some logos a while back, see if you like any and/or if you have and suggestions, or even better if you can make one or more! :)
Danke.

That  (SPINX1 CW+ --> FWD, SPINX1 CW- --> DCM)
should work (when the switch is set for NPN) ,
but try with a direct connection (FWD to DCM)  to verify that
the drive is setup properly.

Note that SPINX1 /ENA must be asserted (low)
for either CW or CCW to be enabled

SpinX1A output to DuraPulse GS 20 Input

Category: Driver Boards

How do I connect the output of the SpinX1A (cw+, cw-) to the digital in of the VFD (FWD, DCM). See attachment of the GS20 input schematic?  I tried hooking the CW+ of the SpinX1A to the FWD of the GS20, and the CW- to the DCM; but it doesn't seem to work.

Request for Mesa 5i23_7i48_7i52 firmware

Category: Driver Boards

I can do this sometime in the next couple of days

Since the 5I23 is not found, it not a simple I/O issue but something
on the bus or power supply related. You might check (carefully) for hot parts
