LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hello, I'm new to LinuxCNC and found your awsome project.
I'm retrofitting an old Deckel FP3 CNC which already has Haidenhain glass scales. Since their already there I wanted to use them of course. For drives I'm using EtherCAT ones, but the Sine/Cosine Encoder interfaces from Beckhoff are very expensive.
So I would like to interpolate the sine/cosine signals of the scales to incremental quad encoders with some custom electronics. I've seen, that there are plugins for quad encoders. Do you think it is possible to use your RealtimeIO core with the encoder plugins to get the values of the scales into LinuxCNC?
Do you see, that there's an issue with RealtimeIO and EtherCAT in parallel? (For EtherCAT I'll use the NIC of the PC chipset. For RIO I wanted to use the W5500 Ethernet module with an USB-Ethernet adapter to the PC.

Thanks for your support!

Slag on tight corners

Category: Plasmac

These have been signs aka wall art so some areas are just needed on tight corners and such. so on items like this should i just expect a little bit of dross/slag buildup.
I'm trying to dive deeper into the software this coming year and getting my table to cut near perfect. I've already made a few changes that have helped tremendously.
I've been told that my table design is creating shakes but to be honest I don't see the water in the pan moving. I would think the slat design I have, might provide for some slat wobble during cuts. I would just like to get this table to be cutting on a professional level. lol

Probe Basic - How does tool setter calculate ?

Category: QtPyVCP

Hi all,

I am currently setting up Probe Basic for my machine which has 3D probe and tool length setter.

But I don't understand how it's gonna work :

- I set the X Y Z origin on my piece using the 3D probe.
- Then I measure the tool using the tool setter and it set an offset value to the tool (from the Z absolute zero of the machine).

But how does this tool offset work with the Z origin on the piece without knowing the 3D probe height ?

In QtDragon, you probe the Z of your piece and the Z of the tool setter, so it can use that difference in Z.

Thank for help.

Minimal setup for touch probe and tool setter ?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I am currently giving a try to Basic Probe.

It has both probing functions.

Compiling scarakins.c under version 2.9.3 does not work.

Category: Advanced Configuration

This seems to be a problem that comes up when trying to use 'halcompile' to compile some of the kinematics files. As a workaround I would suggest to build the repo locally and use 'make' to recompile after making changes.

The above post was stolen from here

And link added to oyosteper . de
They keep posting spam continuously here, and frankly i am not tolerating that anymore as they always hide links and steal posts from other members or other forums, instead of just posting offers or discounts or whatever on the "user exchange" section of the forum.

Hallo
Da ich keine Antwort bekommen habe Versuche ich es nochmal.
Ich möchte einen Hrdware Not-Aus installieren dazu hat mir ein User einen Vorschlag gemacht der lautet:
net   estop-ext      <=   [HMOT] (CARD0).input-10
net   estop-ext      =>  iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in

Problem with stepper motor

Category: CNC Machines

I just upgraded my system to the new linux/CommandCNC and am currently trying to configure/debug it. My A axis motor, which runs the far side Y axis stepper won't run, It is selected in the configurator and it is checked for reverse direction. None of the polarity boxes are checked. I pulled the plug out and tested the resistance as in the manual - I get the result shown, about 2 ohms on either side-by-side test of the outer two plugs and infinite resistance on alternate ones (1st and 3rd or 2nd and 4th). I swapped the two plugs that go to the Y axis so the one that moved was plugged into the socket on the bladerunner box for the one that didn't move and vice versa. I still get no movement on the far side of the table. The last thing I tried was checking the stepper windings with an led, Curiously, the motors that work don't light the led, the motor that isn't working does (both windings light when tested). Seems like it must be the motor but not sure what is wrong with it - anybody have an idea?
